Animal Rights & Stuff - 7

Having a pet is like having a child. It means you should only have a pet if you can care for it properly. The same goes for children. This is something many people have a hard time understanding for some reason. Why Tatiana does not know. One of lifes many mysteries.
When Tatiana takes Chhaya to the vet tomorrow for some anal sac extractions, she is going to ask the vet if they can give hers some pamphlets on spaying and neutering.
Btw, Tatiana tried to do the extractions on Chhaya herself, but she gave up after the second try, it's kind of scary if you are not sure how to do it right, you don't want to hurt anything in there......
So why the pamphlets? Well, there are a few girls at work, more like one girl and one woman, because this person is way pass the age where she can be mistaken for a girl. These two have female cats that keep on getting litters and then they are begging random people to take the kittens.
Tatiana thinks this is very irresponsible. The woman sat outside the local grocery store this summer, with a litter of kittens in a box, trying to give them away to passersby. Just another example of that age and wisdom sometimes don't go hand in hand.........
Like, no screening of the possible new owners first. These kittens can end up being abused, snake food etc. Hello!? Don't you care?
It was that cats third litter that Tatiana is aware of, maybe there have been more litters. And now this cat just had another litter and the woman is trying to get rid of the kittens again. Awful.
Have you heard of crush videos?

Yeah, absolutely DISGUSTING . Of course there is a law aginst these types of videos but they are still being made and circulated.
And sometimes those cute kittens or puppies that people give away to random people end up being tortured and killed in videos like these.
Just another reason to spay or neuter your pets.
Supposedly this woman at work thinks the spay is too expensive. But somehow she can afford to smoke cigarettes. Weird.
Tatiana would starve first if Chhaya needed food or anything. Chhaya depends on Tatiana for food and shelter. When you make the choice to bring an animal into your life you need to make sure that animal is taken care of.
Chhaya is not going to have puppies. Even though she would probably be a really good Mommy. Because if even one of those puppies would end up being mistreated Tatiana would be miserable.
Maybe by giving a pamphlet about spaying and telling this woman about crush videos will make her realize that she needs to spay her cat.
Tatiana can only hope.

There is still a large demand for ivory out there. More than ever supposedly. Tatiana LOATHES people that think it's ok to kill an animal JUST BECAUSE. Only unevolved people do that.
Ok, if you have to feed yourself but not because you have a personal ego need to feed and just have to have a trophy kill. Then you are just plain barbaric, still on a stone age level.
Actually, eating meat every day is unhealthy. Lots of people are brain washed to believe that drinking milk and eating meat is something that you should indulge in every day. Tatiana thinks differently. You should not eat meat every day, you can get your protein from other sources, do your homework, research a little. Also the meat industry contributes heavily to the destruction of the planet. And most animals that are slaughtered for our consumption (in the Western world) are treated inhumane.
How about we look at the bigger picture for a minute, stop being so selfish.
Poachers should be put in prison for a long time. How is it ok to kill an elephant just to take it's tusks and leave the body behind to rot? Tatiana would NEVER do that. So what that you get lots of money for the tusks? It's better to be a homeless beggar than a poacher.
People that buy and trade ivory should go to prison. If Tatiana ever encounters a person with African ivory on them she will tell them that they are a piece of shit.
Animals kill too, but they only take what they need. Humans on the other hand, take more than they need, way more. Do you really need a zebra rug on your floor, a bear head on your wall and an ivory statue on your desk?
Since we are already on the topic of animals.......Tatiana is totally against zoo's. Animals belong in the wild. Animal sanctuaries are ok, zoo's for people's gawking pleasures are not ok.
And regarding children......it's definitely time to look at the bigger picture here too. Polulation control is long overdue. One, MAX two kids per person. Tatiana thinks one child. You want more? Adopt.
And if you do not have the means to take care of yourself then please spare the rest of us and do not reproduce. If you are a total idiot, also do not reproduce. Thank you.

"Over the past two and half years the price of ivory has gone up crazily, evidently fuelled by demand from the far east"
With the price of ivory doubling in just two years, the killing last week of a matriarch elephant named Khadija added to the urgency raised by activists.
Slaughtered near Kenya's Samburu National Reserve, Khadija left eight orphans — "a story that is becoming way too familiar in northern Kenya," Save the Elephants said in a statement.
Ironically, Khadija had been treated two weeks earlier for bullet wounds and had survived the attack," the group added. "This time, she died as she hobbled near the river, with four fresh bullets in her body. By midnight, under the full moon, her tusks had been cut out and the (radio) collar she was wearing had been destroyed and buried in the sand."

That is SOOOOO sad! She hobbled down to the river, probably died slowly, left behind eight of her kids. Some people might not understand this, because they are dumb, but animals have feelings. Yeah, really!
Tatiana can't stand people that act like this.

Tatiana just read this about some elephants that have been killed......

"An elephant named Marani was shot to death in October. A second shooting death came in February. Two others were killed last month, including one suspected shooting death and one death caused by a snare.

Douglas-Hamilton described the agony of the last death, after a team member hiked through thick mountain terrain and through two gorges to find the starved corpse.

"She had been snared with a big rope round her leg and was tied to a tree," he said. "In her last days she had thrashed around and flattened the vegetation, but he found her emaciated. She must have died of lack of food and water."

Susie Weeks, who lives near the 17,057-foot (5,199-meter) mountain for her work with The Mount Kenya Trust, said the region is "rife" with snares and traps. She said ivory poaching began on the mountain in 2009 and has steadily increased.

"Although the snares seem to be laid for smaller game, like buffalo, we find dead elephant calves in these brutal and indiscriminate traps, and amputated or snared calves wondering around with serious infections they cannot possibly survive," she said."

SO MEAN! Sometimes Tatiana just loathes the human race. People are so mean, so selfish. There are days when Tatiana just loves life and being alive but then she gets reminded of certain things, like this for example and she gets snapped back to the harsh reality of how shitty people really are.
In every aspect. Loyalty. Friendship. Violence. The list is never ending. It's not often that you meet a nice person anymore it seems.
Tatiana got rid of some nasty people from her own life not too long ago.......selfish, nasty, envious, liars and she is very happy not to considered them friends anymore.
They were not worthy of her friendship anyway, looking back at things. But it's ok. That's life. And Tatiana is more concerned for these elephants and all other animals that get mistreated than these individuals she is no longer friends with anyways.
Poor elephants! It is so awful that this is happening! Tatiana loves animals. They are beautiful and innocent.

Since the incident last night about Tatiana’s friend feeling that Tatiana insulted her/was mean, Tatiana wants to point out her own physical "flaws' for ALL of you to read. ENJOY!
It's no big deal, Tatiana is not perfect and she never claimed to be either. Despite all compliments.
Not perfectly white teeth. But not awful either. And they are all there and the original teeth (no veneers) and they are strong. Tatiana could always bleach them, but whatever.
Some grey hair. Can't do much about that besides color the pesky strands to match the rest of the hair. The grey has been there since Tatiana was 18.
But besides that, Tatiana is happy with her hair.
Cellulite on thighs. When Tatiana got to the US she gained quite a bit of weight in the beginning. Too much junk food and not enough exercise. Her thighs and butt got large and she couldn't pull up her jeans above mid thigh. Since then the weight came off and Tatiana is ok with her body. She has days when she thinks it's a little chunky and days when she thinks she looks fantastic. But since the weigh gain there are some cellulite on the thighs that never went away.
Oh well, it is what it is. Tatiana is not aware of a cure for cellulite besides not getting them in the first place. Maybe some vigorous dry brushing?
But what she is really happy about is that her body is strong and can take Chhaya for long walks, runs and hikes and can handle 6 1/2 inch platform stilettos for hours and hours.
Tatiana never underwent any plastic surgery or drastic diets. Otherwise Tatiana would write about it. Tatiana loves food way too much to diet.

Tatiana is kind of an animal rights person. It is basically proven that animals share feelings with us humans (the brutes that we are) like compassion, love, embarrassment. Ponder that for a minute! Tatiana gets upset when she hears about a pet that has been mistreated or any other animal that's hurting.
Tatiana is mostly vegetarian. She makes exceptions once in a while in regards to her meat consumption, also she is not a vegan - though she has a lot of admiration for vegans. Tatiana does not need an animal to give up it's life to feed Tatiana. They have the right to life just like us. And while they live, they should get treated well, like milk cows for example, they should live in a comfortable environment. Have you ever petted a cow or a calf or a pig? They are so cute!!! Tatiana loves them!
One day Tatiana would like to have a large area where she would build an animal rescue. She would rescue all kinds of animals right now but can't because she wouldn't be able to provide for them properly. There are other ways to help, like volunteering at animal shelters or making donations.
One other important issue that Tatiana would like to point out is the importance of spaying and neutering your pets. Looking back, Tatiana should had adopted a dog, instead she bought Chhaya in Las Vegas. Of course she does not regret this, Chhaya is Tatianas wonderful companion.
But it is so nice to rescue a dog or a cat instead of buying a new pet.
Also Chhaya won't be a Mom, though Tatiana had many proposals to breed Chhaya since she is a very pretty blue nose pitbull, the puppies can sell for up to $ 1000, but there are too many pitbulls that end up in shelters due to neglect. Tatiana would be heartbroken if Chhaya had puppies and even one of them would get mistreated.
So please, think about the animals, think twice before acting. They are so beautiful and they have rights just like you.

Tatiana loves animals! They are not here to be mistreated by us. Tatiana doesn't eat much meat or fish. She doesn't really care if other people do but if we would eat less meat the world would be a better place she believes.
Right now Tatiana is sad that Travis, a chimpanzee that was living as a domesticated pet together with a woman, is dead. Travis was 15. Poor baby! And now he is dead, shot to death by the police. They really didn't have much choice, supposedly Travis went after the police after he had attacked another woman, brutally hurting her. Really sad.
This should had never happened. Monkeys, apes should not be kept as pets. They are too strong, unpredictable and usually end up being abandoned by the owner in the end because they can't care for the animal anymore. The cute little monkey will grow up and become too difficult to handle.
It is hard enough to care for a dog or a cat. How are you going to live with a 200 lbs chimp in your house?
Now a lady is left alone and sad, another injured for life and poor Travis, a beautiful animal -shot to death.
Tatiana hopes that this will never happen again!
Animals like that belong in nature. Tatiana is against zoo's too. It is cruel to keep animals locked up.
Tonight Tatiana is thinking about Travis and all animals that are sad. And the two ladies involved in this.
