The Woman In Me

Today Britney's story came out in book form - The Woman In Me. This is a memoir and a ghostwriter was used. A lot of the content is all over the internet so I did not get the book, yet at least. But I did go to the bookstore today to look at the book.

I love Britney. Have you seen her early performances? She was so amazing! I saw her in Vegas in 2015......yes pictures from the concert are in the blog of course. Here......

Lots of writings about Britney almost daily in the media. All I can say is that nobody knows what she went through......so I don't have anything bad to say about her. It seems to me like she has been mistreated by many. Besides....I REALLY like Britney, there is something about her. I hope she will live her best life and be happy.

Colorful Things

Fall (or Autumn) has arrived. Leaves are covering the streets and evenings and nights are chilly.
I saw this beautiful waterfall the other day. And other colorful things in the forest.

And this is Kaya. The other day it was her birthday (October 20). She is six now. She has been with me for a while, I have not written about her much, if any. I did not name her Kaya, she already had that name when she came into my life. It is pronounced the same as my other Chhaya but a different spelling. My Chhaya passed, I think about her every day and I miss her. It is very hard to lose a pet, she was my everything. I loved her so much, I should say I love her so much. I feel that she is there somewhere waiting for me, I hope that she is.
My "new" Kaya is amazing. She has big round eyes, her face has the softest fur, she is extremely agile and athletic. She sleeps close to me at night and she loves to cuddle. I kiss her over and over and inhale her scent, I love her. I love Kaya and I love Chhaya. My girls. ❤️❤️

Pupcakes

Once in a while I do something wholesome......like bake.
Fun Tati fact, when I still lived at home with my Mom in Sweden she wanted me to bake once a week. I usually baked an apple pie or something we call sockerkaka (sponge cake) or a tiger cake (like a sponge cake with chocolate). I don't recall if I actually did bake once a week year round but I did bake on a regular. And I made waffles too, I love waffles.
Well last night I baked cupcakes for puppies - pupcakes. Very simple, just add an egg and water and mix together.
Then some frosting on top. TAAAADAAA!

The cupcakes spent the night in the refrigerator and today I brought them downtown Portland to PetPack.

I help feed and clothe plus equip with leashes, harnesses, collars, beds, blankets, bowls etc the pets that "belong" to humans that have limited monetary funds and resources. I love doing this. I wish I could do more.
That is Senna checking out all the goods.

This is Behr.

And here is pretty Princess.

My dream is to help animals more. I love them so much. Please do NOT breed your pets. EDUCATE yourself on that subject.
I had so many offers to breed Chhaya, she was so gorgeous and she had papers and I could had sold her puppies for a nice sum. But what is more important? The profit or the welfare of the dogs? The welfare of the dogs of course. I do not trust that people can provide good homes for animals, some do but many do not.
If you are reading this and have millions of dollars (or some other strong currency like KWD, GPD, CHF to give a few examples) and are not sure what to do with your money......let me help you put some of that money to good use and save some animals.

The Man And The Temple

This year the Man was surrounded by a beehive design. And I went to a beekeeping seminar at Earth Guardians.

Due to the muddy conditions on the playa the Man burn got postponed until Monday night. The fireworks were AMAZING this year, more than usual I thought although the fireworks at Burning Man are always spectacular.....I get all the fireworks viewing I need here.

This year's Temple was Temple of the Heart. "Temple of the Heart is designed to look like an upside-down desert flower with a stem reaching up into the sky, serving as both a beacon as well as a sundial. It creates a feeling of being near a heart, wrapped in love for those who seek solace and respite. At night it will glow with soft, warm, welcoming light."
From journal.burningman.org
The temple burned Tuesday night.

There were several of these supercute sketches with nice messages hanging inside the Temple. Like this one. "What do you want to be when you grow up? Kind, said the boy."

And this one.  "What do we do when our hearts hurt? asked the boy. We wrap them with friendship, tears and time till they wake hopeful and happy again.

During my first Burning Man in 2013 I told myself that I would try to go for ten years in a row. And I did. Well......in 2020 I went to Baker Beach in San Francisco and yes Burning Man was happening there for one night and then got shut down by the mayor of the city due to COVID regulations (whatever....). I have been to Black Rock City ten times now.
What is is about Burning Man that is so special? People from all over come together to build and create a city on a dry lake bed and fill it with amazing art, music, workshops, happiness and so much else. Everybody gets along. The Default World is happening somewhere on the outside but we have Black Rock City for those days.
As most of us know the world is NOT (always) a happy place, in fact reality is rather grim. There is a lot of suffering and sadness, we are surrounded by heniuos acts. Almost every time that I read the news I get sad and sometimes I just shut my laptop down because I can't take more in. I can't even imagine the reality for the people that are faced with war, destruction, hunger, terror......and all the animals that are mistreated and suffer everyday.
But at Burning Man we have that special place. I am very well aware of the critisism Burning Man has received, from the environmental footprint aspect to the people that have been going longer than me and don't like how things have developed. And yes.....I do see some of that and I agree with some of the issues as well. BUT Burning Man STILL truly is a MAGICAL place.
And this my friends is the last blog entry about Burning Man 2023 Animalia. I have all my Burning Man entries saved in the blog archives if you want to see what I have been up to at Black Rock City since 2013.

2023 Black Rock City Barbie Mud Edition

To all the Barbie collectors - here is your favorite Barbie of them all, the Black Rock City Barbie. This time the 2023 Mud Edition.

I had a different outfit in mind for my yearly Burning Man Barbie pics but due to the muddy conditions I guess I am glad I got any pics at all. We took most of the pictures on the same day, therefore I am wearing the same stuff in many of them.
I have not been able to find the pink Playa Barbie booth for years now that used to be out on the playa. I don't know if the guy that made it (for his wife Barbie he told me once) still goes to Burning Man. Meh.....I really liked that Barbie booth.

Bye Shoes

I retired another pair of tennis shoes - Bye Shoes! They went in the trash today. I did not even take them with me downtown today to try to give them away during my volunteering shift, I didn't think anybody would want them. They were on their last leg (or last toe).

I feel weirdly sentimental when I throw away shoes. I start thinking about when I got them and what adventures we went on together. I had these for a long time. I keep stuff for a long time in general. Shoes, clothes......stuff. Now I need a new pair of rain boots. Unfortunately it will start raining here in Portand soon, I think tomorrow. The weather has been absolutely GORGEOUS for months. I also ordered a new pair of heels for work, the usual Stardust 7 inch platform clear with rhinestones. They are on their way. Then I thought about it some and decided that I need one more pair but in a different color so I will make the order later. That's it. I am good on shoes after that for a while.
It is Sunday early evening. The sun went down but it is not completely dark yet. It is kind of quiet outside. I am on the couch with my laptop on my lap. The sliding door to the back yard is wide open and it is so nice outside. I will try to get some stuff done before I go to bed.
I hope you had a nice week......I used to get anxiety on Sunday evenings but not anymore. Sunday evening meant school the next day. Get up early and I do not like waking up early. School or work for many - reality. I do not work on Mondays anymore. Not since Riverside Corral closed down, I used to be there Monday nights. I hope all the girls are OK, I thought about them, the owner and the club today. Memories.
Have a good night!
