Road Trip

Since I haven't been to China Ranch by Tecopa, CA in some time now I decided to take a road trip out there the other day. It was too hot to hike all the way to Slot Canyon. This is right by Death Valley, so it gets hot. All we did was lounge around the gift shop at China Ranch, got the mandatory date shake and went for a shorter walk. I was tempted to start walking to Slot Canyon but having Chhaya with me and not knowing exactly how bothered she would be by the heat I decided it was better not to go. Chhaya comes first. She had a fun day sniffing around China Ranch. She loves road trips and fun adventures.

Pretty mosaic steps.

And here is a view of the Tecopa mud baths from up on the hill.

And Chhaya right by the mud bath pool.

Although I have soaked in the mud baths many times with no incidents.....the last time I did so I was bit by something. Something got into my skin and I itched and was red in certain areas for about a week. I don't know when this sign about the mud mites came up, because it was not there last time I visited. But it makes sense now what caused the itching - mud mites. I also did not shower afterwards either, I fell asleep on the couch and I think that had something to do with it. Maybe you need to rinse off as soon as you can afterwards. So I decided to stay out of the mud baths this time. Chhaya too. I don't have time for red and itchy skin right now and neither do I want an itchy puppy. Don't let my mud mite experience deter you from getting in the mud baths though. I know plenty of people that have enjoyed them without any complications. Like I said, I think I got itchy because I didn't take a shower when I got home. I've had mud mites once before. I was in the middle of nowhere in Nevada by a place called Diana's Punchbowl. I dipped myself in a shallow pool of warm water and when I got out I was SUPER itchy and had red welts on my skin. It was immediate too. Gross!

I LOVE Nevada, can't wait to explore more of this beautiful state soon.

Afternoon

Relaxing outside this afternoon with a pile of new magazines to read, a book and some iced latte. This makes me happy, new stuff to read. Chhaya is relaxing too, sunbathing. I'm reading about Nikola Tesla. Very interesting. I wonder how it feels for highly intelligent people? I think it must be frustrating to be extremely intelligent. Since most of us don't reach that kind of level it must be so frustrating to not be able to share your thoughts and visions with others and elaborate even further with somebody that can give you feedback. I know I would be frustrated and I would probably become a crazy loner. Talking to myself and animals, well I already do that......I guess all I need now is the official label of crazy.
Tesla made many predictions. I especially like one he made about women. "This struggle of the human female toward sex equality will end in a new sex order, with the female as superior."
I believe too that one day women will be far superior to men in all areas. I already believe that women in general are more advanced than men in many instances, since I see constant examples of how men are driven by the simplest things. Sex and food. Sure, I need food too but I'm not going to throw away my whole life and make ridiculous choices just so I can get to know some foreign penis for an hour or so. I can live without that. Give it another century or so and women will rule. Remember that women were not allowed to vote until some decades ago here in the US, because men were holding women back on purpose. Things are constantly changing unless you live in some village in Afghanistan that is. But then there are brave girls like Malala, being on the forefront for important changes.

Breakfast Club

So last night I went and saw the Breakfast Club on the big screen. It was a special screening since it's the movies 30 year anniversary. Maybe I'll go and see it in some kind of a futuristic movie theater 30 years from now again?
How cool it must be to had been a part of a movie like this for all the actors that were in it......!? I love the Breakfast Club. I remember watching in with my girlfriends in Sweden and squealing over certain parts and just DYING over John Bender (The Criminal). What a SEKSI guy! OMG. When Claire walks into that small room where he had to sit (that he escaped) and that look he gives her, when she puts her earring into his hand and when he kisses her......!!!
I just wanted to be Claire SOOOO badly then!!! Yep, he was one of my many crushes back then. My heart was beating extra fast for him last night. Still love the movie. And John Bender is still super hot.

Enough Is Enough

If you are a pet parent like me, you know how annoying it gets to constantly clean up after that furry brat. I am so tired of mopping the floors and vacuuming after Chhaya, she gets everything dirty and I like my place clean. I am also tired of picking up her nasty poop every single day. GROSS!
So I found these amazing products in a store the other day and started training Chhaya last night. She is going to learn how to clean up after herself, or else! Enough is enough! I'm a nice person but everybody has a limit! She seems to be getting her training kind of well, she was a reluctant to wear that stuff on her feet at first but I yelled at her and locked her in the bathroom (with the lights out of course) and after sitting there in the dark for about an hour thinking about what she did wrong, I let her out and she listened better. If you are a pet parent (Annette for example) you should get this for your pet too!

Don't get me wrong.....I love Chhaya but she needs to start cleaning up after herself!

APRIL'S FOOL!!! Or in Swedish.....April April din dumma sill!
Of course I'm only JOKING! :-D

Bracelets

Check out my pretty new bracelets. The one with the cross I got from Julia and the other two are from Whole Foods. I am going to give my Mom a pink rose quartz with a heart for Mother's Day. I gave her a rose quartz bracelet a few years ago and she wore it when she and my brother picked me up at Centralstationen in Stockholm last summer when I got to Sweden. So I know she will love this one too.

Last Leg

So as you know.....in case you have been reading my ramblings for a while, I use fake lashes for work and other occasions too, like if I'm going to a party or something but never during the day (I don't bother with any make up during the day, the simpler the better).
A few months ago I tried teaching a girl at work how to apply them. It usually takes a few times before you get a hang of it, I can get them on in about two minutes, that's one minute each eye. Then they stay glued on all night and I take them off before I go to bed. I've been asked how long they last. I reuse mine many times before I discard of them. These that I put on last night are on their last leg though. I have probably used them 15-20 times. If you are careful with the lashes they can be reused. And why go and buy new when you can reuse, right? At least that's my philosophy. So I switch between a few different styles. I get the brand called Ardell which you can find at any Sally beauty Supply, at Smith's or Vons, most large supermarket chains carry Ardell. In Alaska I get them at the local Fred Meyer. I switch off between the "Demi Whispies" or 105 or 117. Always in black.

The other week I found these pretty dark blue ones. I'm not sure where I would wear them so you could actually notice the blue hue but probably a party/rave although those have been few and far in between lately. I need to go out soon or I'm going to turn into a boring fogbone!
