Mia

So I have used the Clarisonic Mia face brush a few times now. And I like it......my skin looks the same, it's not like it made some huge transformation but then again I don't think that I have any special problems with my skin that I am trying to target. I just like the feeling of the brush on my face, it's like a mini mini facial cleaning. At least I hope it gets clean. Who knows? Maybe I will look like 15 again if I continue using it? ;-)
I have the basic Mia model with only one speed, the normal speed. There are a few other models out with more speeds. And if you are a man......don't shy away from skin care products. I have read the reviews on the Mia face brushes and even men use them and like them. The brushes come in many colors, you do not need to get a lavender like I did.

In The Ditch.......Again

My daily drive to fuel my latte addiction turned out to be an adventure today that I didn't bargain for. I ended up in the ditch......again. The roads are very icy. You can ice skate for miles on the road leading up to my house.
But a shovel, two towels (for tire traction) and some determination was all it took to solve that problem. I decided, no more ditches for me!

Dave's Killer Bread

I love bread and I have found a delicious bread at Safeway that I love, my fave bread for a few months now. Dave's Killer Bread . It comes in many different flavors and my fave after tasting a few is the Robust Raisin. I can go through a loaf in five days, it is soooooo goood! You should try it. Also, the story behind Dave's Killer Bread is interesting......check it out if you have some time.

Weekend Recap

I worked Friday and Saturday.......This is what I had on Friday evening when I arrived at work.

After examining myself in one of the mirrors at work I decided that I have added a layer of Christmas food chunk on my body. But that will go away......if I stop scarfing down food late night at home. Easier said than done. Working more will do it too. I want more hip bone, less chunk. And yes, I went to the gym this weekend, twice.
Also, we (us girls at work) also managed to have a small disagreement at work Saturday night that got somewhat heated, more about that in another blog.

Have I showed off my two new bracelets that I got in New York at Henri Bendel? I don't think I have yet. Large crystals - I like!

It has been raining here the last two days, the roads are very slick, basically they are frozen and icy with a layer of water on top. I found that out for myself at 2 40 am Sunday morning, while driving home from work. My car ended up halfway in a ditch, I totally lost control of my truck when I made a turn. I steered one way and the truck went another. Scary. But no damages.

I have been eating berries with whipped cream every day for six days now, can't get enough. Here is a bowl of blueberries, so good!

Another thing I did, I played pull tabs (rippies) for the first time. I found out that there is a place in Soldotna called Pot Of Gold and they will give you ten free rippies a day. So you have nothing to lose, really. BAZINGA! Since I was doing errands in Soldotna Saturday I stopped at Pot Of Gold. There were a few older ladies in there, smoking and ripping up their pull tabs in a frenzy. The place would be like Soldotna's answer to Arizona Charlie's in Vegas. An old smoke filled casino notorious for the mostly older people in there gambling, glued to the slot machines, many of them hooked up to some kind of a breathing machine, still sucking down a cigarette though.
I won four additional rippies but no $. Maybe next time!?

And tonight I went and saw a movie.......Django Unchained. Not too bad. Lots of shooting, blood and guts. But an entertaining story. And I like that Jamie rode his own horse. Although I think that Quentin should have stayed behind the scenes as the director, the small role he played was acted badly. But some directors want to make a cameo in their own movies, two more that come to mind, Hitchcock and Woody Allen.

Rolled Up Windows

Earlier today I was getting out of my car and I saw a woman light up a cigarette in her car, no big deal.....Well the windows were rolled up and a dog was in the car with her.
A few weeks ago I saw some other woman driving and smoking with a young child in the backseat, again windows rolled up. That is SO GROSS! I remember when I was little and adults sometimes would light up a cigarette in the car, the smell was almost unbearable and I had to find a pocket of clean air somewhere so I could breathe.
I would always feel sick and queasy from the cigarette smoke. Don't these people remember how they felt about smoking BEFORE they became smokers? How bad it smelled? How gross is was to be exposed to somebody's fumes and breathe that crap in?
I think that many smokers are really selfish with their cigarette smoke and I have a really hard time with selfish people that trample through life without any consideration for others. Smoking is a great example of that. There is nothing positive about smoking, name one thing! It stinks, it's unhealthy for the smoker and everybody exposed to the second hand smoke and it is gross.
I don't know how you as a parent can drive around with your child in the car, smoking with the windows rolled up? Doesn't it occur to you that it's wrong in so many ways?
Or that poor dog that has to breathe that poisonous air?
I hope they make all bars, restaurants and yes strip clubs smoke free. You can't go to a bar without lighting up a cigarette? You have to have a smoke with your beer? Ok, then stay home and drink and smoke and let me breathe clean air. A designated area for smoking is ok as long as I don't have to be subjected to stinky carcinogenic smoke.
I actually do care about my health and my skin. Many heavy smokers look years older than they are. That is not what I am trying to look like. Thank You!
Why would you expose your kids to the things that bothered you when you were growing up? The same goes for forcing a kid to eat some food that they can't stomach. Sure kids need to eat but they have taste buds too, just like grown ups. I could not stand spinach and milk. I hated that. And guess what, my Mom would serve spinach at least a few times a month. In Sweden it's called "spenat" and it looks like a dark green mush and is served warm and I couldn't stand the taste of it. I also had to drink a glass of milk with dinner, just because it's good for you supposedly. I would force myself to drink that glass of milk at the very end of every meal and sometimes I wanted to puke it up. Talk about torture! When I was about 12 I put my foot down and my Mom finally understood that I really didn't want to eat spinach and drink milk. I could never force a child to eat something they don't like, that's wrong. It's one thing to make sure your kid eats and it's another to make it eat stuff that they don't like. I still don't drink milk by itself. I have milk in my latte, I eat cheese, yoghurt etc but a glass of milk? I would barf.

Old Movies

Here are some old movies that I love. I can watch them over and over again and not get tired of them.
The Breakfast Club. I don't think I could ever get tired of this masterpiece. I had a huge crush on Bender (Judd Nelson's character), he was soooooo sexy and I wanted him to be MY boyfriend!

The Lost Boys. Oooooh, I love vampire stories and this is my fave! Michael (Jason Patric) was so hot. Kiefer Sutherland was PERFECT in his role as David and I was IN LOVE with Corey Haim, he was so cute!

Weird Science. One word.....Kelly LeBrock as Lisa. Girl crush! Kelly is still beautiful, once beautiful always beautiful, if you live your life right......
I remember thinking that people were wearing some funny looking outfits in this movie. And I thought it was strange and gross that people in the US walked around inside their house with shoes on. Especially shoes in bed. YUCK! That was unthinkable for me, I was in Sweden when these movies came out and I watched them a while after they got released here. I still would never walk around my house with shoes. And I am in the US now. Kelly looks the best towards the end of the movie as the new gym teacher in those high tops, gray leggings and that leotard. Yum!
