Basil

When I have downtime at work I sometimes make myself a cup of tea, read the newspaper, turn up the music and sing loudly and dance (when nobody is in the place besides us staff of course), make sure we have enough to go boxes and to go cutlery made up and if not I prepare some, refill sugar dispensers, dust off the espresso machine.......
Everybody that comes in is nice and I truly enjoy adding some happiness to people's day with a yummy coffee beverage, or tea and desserts. But there was an older stern manly looking woman in the other day that did not like me upon entering, then she sat at a table with her family and glared at me. Like......OK lady feeling in a bad mood or something? What else.....oh, one of my co workers told me that she likes working with me because I am no drama. I was like.....THANKS! And then I said, "What kind of drama could there possibly be at a CAFE??? Now if we were in the strip club we could maybe talk about drama!" Oh yes, they know about my dancing. I told them. I have nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, I have plenty of examples of people that were never dancers that SHOULD be ashamed for being shitty people with questionable morals and no respect for themselves or others. I don't fit into that category. But back to drama.....I don't like drama, I find it so stressful, unfortunately I have been surrounded with a lot of drama producing people and getting more drama thrown at me than I could have ever wished for.

And look at our pet! His name is Basil.....as in homage to Basil the Rat from Fawlty Towers. I love Fawlty Towers.....I have all the episodes on VHS. And Andrew Sachs that played Manuel (I know nothing!) recently passed away......or passed on I should say. I spent many fun times watching Fawlty Towers with my brother - we share the same kind of humor.
So Christmas is around the corner. In Sweden we have advent. Basically a countdown to Christmas by lighting candle after candle until four candles are lit.

I miss my family for Christmas.......

Radical Ritual

Today I got emailed the latest "The Jackrabbit Speaks" which is a Burning Man newsletter. The theme for 2017 is decided and got revealed - Radical Ritual.
OF COURSE I am hoping to be there and take part of it but you never know! And today I got my Burning Man 2016 memorabilia done, better late than never, at least I got it done this year. My brother will be sent something similar. So the smaller bottle contains Playa dust, I have collected Playa dust every year I attended. And the larger bottle has the burnt sand with rocks Playa dust that I collected from the area the Man burnt at, with nails that held the Man together. Pretty cool I think!

Open Mic

This evening me and a girl I work at the cafe with (Gabi) went to Illumilatte for open mic night. We had a lavender tea latte each, very good. Watched some local musicians sing and play.

Now I am back home after a quick trip to the grocery store to get some watermelon, Chhaya eats watermelon too. We share.
Speaking of open mic and music, back in the day I so wanted my own band.
A CRAZY over the top band and I wanted the band to be called Dirty Sanchez. I think whatever I would had came up with would had been great but nobody wanted to join me in the Dirty Sanchez project. Booooooo! Now I am trying to convince Roxy to start a Dirty Sanchez band with me but she is not interested. I don't blame her....LOL! She suggested I just hold some instrument, pretend to play it and look pretty. Kind of like the girls in that Robert Palmer video...... Addicted To Love .
I guess I can stand behind a synthesizer like a female version of Nick Rhodes.
Roxy has like a small studio set up at home, I was playing and singing with her the other night. We had fun. American Idol next?
:-D

Lucia Celebration In Las Vegas

I just got home from a traditional Swedish Lucia Celebration in Las Vegas! Well, as traditional as it gets here in Vegas. There was a Lucia and tärnor and stjärngossar singing songs. Swedish traditional Jul mat (Christmas food) and glögg. I went and got food several times and some man renamed me "The Girl with the fast metabolism" and said something like "Thank You for being thin". I was like......?
I have a good appetite and I am for sure not going to hold back on my food intake when I can have Swedish food that taste like HOME. No dieting for me.
Roxy was kind enough to accompany me this afternoon, we had fun (Thank You Roxy). There was a raffle and Roxy got us tickets and she won a knitted throw in blue and yellow, the Swedish flag colors and I won a $50 gift certificate to a Mexican restaurant so I am taking us there. Yeay!
Lucia walking away. Lucia is a big deal in Sweden, I was Lucia in 6th grade.

Glögg! I got us a small cup that we split. In Sweden we usually serve it with almonds and sometimes raisins on the bottom of the cup/glass.

Lussekatt or Lussebulle.

More Cupcakes

I have more cupcakes for you.....just because they are so pretty! Perhaps working at a cafe with all kinds of sweets will make me lose some of my sweet tooth?
Today I had chai and Holiday Tea to drink, cupcakes, a cookie and lavender cream cake.

I got off at 2 PM today, went to IKEA afterwards, then home to get Chhaya and we did some errands. I now have two days off until work again on Monday.

I got really cold at work too. So I had to put on my hoodie and warm up by the oven.

I'm feeling sleepy and it's not even 9 PM! I am going to watch a Swedish program that I follow and then bundle up and walk Chhaya before I go to bed.

Santa Is Coming

December has arrived. The last month of 2016......Santa is coming soon, are you ready?

I am getting there. Singing Christmas songs, getting gifts for people, feeling nostalgic, remembering childhood Christmases and others from not too long ago. Memories in my heart, memories that make me feel warm and happy.....also memories that hurt and make my eyes burn with tears and my heart ache.

Me and Chhaya went to Sunset Park this evening, to go for a walk and we brought some food for the rabbits.
