Urban Turban

Las Vegas has so many great restaurants to choose from. I am a huge foodie, I love food and I love trying new places. Since I arrived in Vegas I have not cooked a single meal at home.
It's been lots of take home ready to go meals from Whole Foods since it's located 5 minutes from my house and has lots of stuff that I love, almost daily Sambalatte for breakfast and I have also eaten out a lot. Almost every place has been great, I am not super picky with my food, I love almost everything that I order BUT I have to say that my dining experience at Hash House A Go Go on West Sahara was a disappointment.
The food was served cold, you do not serve people cold potatoes and eggs OK....gross.
Overpriced and NOT tasty. I also ordered a coffee drink that came in a glass way too small for the price and not good whatsoever. I will never go back there again. I regret spending a dollar in there.
I tried Guy Fieri's on the Strip and ordered a Greek salad. It was probably the best Greek salad I've ever had. Thinking back at it makes my mouth water!
I also tried an Indian restaurant called the Urban Turban. Delicious! I LOVE Indian food. So I ordered the vegetarian curry, which you could get as many refills of as you wanted to, I have a huge appetite but could only eat one portion. I also ordered naan (of course) and a mango lassi. Best mango lassi ever! I am definitely going back to the Urban Turban, I liked the ambiance in there too and they have a riksha by the entry. Great for taking pictures with!

And since I am writing about places to eat I have to write about one more place. A while ago I happened to walk by Kerry Simon's place, KGB (Kerry's Gourmet Burgers) at Harrah's the day before it was scheduled to close. I just had to walk in and I ordered some fries. See back in the day me and Shelley kind of knew Kerry. This is when we still lived in California and used to drive to Vegas every so often and work at Crazy Horse Too. Kerry had a small crush on Shelley and instructed us to give him a call when we were in town and were hungry, his treat.
Kerry then was the head chef of Prime at the Bellagio, one of the best restaurants in town.
So Shelley would call and say, "We're hungry" and we would dine at Prime, seated at a great table, served all kinds of chef's specials until we were beyond full and happy. We were very spoiled. I will always remember Kerry's generosity......Kerry is not doing so well (health wise) and therefore KGB is now closed.

Some of the cool paintings at KGB.

The Wheel Of Misfortune

I went back to the Wheel of Misfortune today. This time accompanied by Sarah Jane (read Sarah's blog HERE ) and she loved the place just as much as I do. It's simply fascinating! So the place itself is close to Lake Mead at an old mine site called Three Kids Mine. Why the name I'm not sure, maybe some children died there and it was named in honor of their memory. The area was mined for manganese a long time ago, the mine is abandoned and there is plenty of cool graffiti all over. And of course the Wheel of Misfortune. All the dollar signs painted show 0 and spelled out are.....Lose A Job, Bankrob, Lose All Hope, Lose A House, Bankowned and Aware. I think Aware is the name of the artist that created the Wheel of Misfortune, with the help of others. REALLY cool spot! Me and Sarah went to check the place out and we took some pics while doing so. Here are a few......

Another beautiful day in Vegas came to an end.....I had a great day today.

Fight Night

Tonight is a big night here in Vegas, it's fight night. Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao and Floyd "Money" Mayweather will be boxing at the MGM Grand Garden Arena later this evening. I do not know much about boxing. I do know that there is a ridiculous amount of money involved, the two contenders are rumored to be splitting 300 million US dollars, Floyd taking home the larger chunk. I think 60-40 to Floyd. No matter who wins, there are no losers in this fight.
That is some serious cash.....I'm not sure how I feel about that. One can do a lot of good with that kind of money.
I suspect they might try to go for a rematch next year or so to generate even more $$$. I am hoping Manny wins of course! He seems like nice person, he smiles a lot and sings his own songs - what a cutie! How can you not like Manny? All I know about Floyd is that he lives here in Vegas and likes to buy Ferrari's (lots of them) for cash at the local dealership, he likes his Ferrari's white. Vegas is buzzing with excitement for tonight, most hotels are fully booked.

Since Manny weighed in at 145 lbs and Floyd at 146, they are welterweights, I got curious about my own weight class had I been a professional boxer......which I'm not of course, far from it. At Whole Foods they have a machine that will take your blood pressure and your weight for free, see why Whole Foods is the best - they have everything there.
So I weighed in at 135. I guess I'm a lightweight? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

This is my fighting form for today. (I'm holding a bikini in my hand in case you wonder).

Right now I'm enjoying a smoothie called Blue Hawaii and waiting for the weather to cool off so me and Chhaya can go for a walk. It's 90°F right now!

Pink Bikini

I got a new bikini.....a pink bikini. Quite basic but it will cover what needs to be covered. I keep on thinking that I should/need to take up swimming like once a week. It's a good exercise for me.

Yesterday afternoon I had an errand by Town Square mall and Julia came with me. We were walking into Whole Foods to get something cold and sparkly to drink when we were approached by a lady asking us if we would want to test ride in and take a survey about a Lincoln car and for the time and trouble we would be each awarded a $25 gift card to Whole Foods. Hello.....do bears poop in the woods? Of course we want gift cards to Whole Foods!
A 21 year old kid from Miami that had never been to Vegas before drove us around for about ten minutes in a brand new Lincoln while we entertained him with crazy stories about drug deals, fat lines of meth & the kokaina, arrests, prostitution and all the other fun stuff life has to offer. We did all this in exaggerated accents. He must had thought we were crazy and at the end of the ride he wanted to hang out later......of course he did. My plan was to go and make money later so I passed on the hanging out later part.
I was very happy with my $25 Whole Foods present, I got me and Chhaya dinner for free.

I got home from work not too long ago. The birds are starting to wake up outside and I need to sleep, I am SO tired. Have to be up by noon to meet a friend for lunch......so it's bed time now.

Penn & Teller

I saw Penn & Teller a while ago. Their show is GREAT. I don't know HOW they do any of that stuff that I saw, I could not wrap my head around it. I really did enjoy their show. If you do plan to see Penn & Teller make sure you get seats close or somewhat close to the stage.
The arena is big (their show is at the Rio) and a few times I felt like I should had brought binoculars because it was difficult to see what they were doing and you want to see all that magic and not miss out!

Penn & Teller seem like they are really nice too. They are involved in the community with walks for AIDS, blood donations and Opportunity Village. I admire that very much.

After the show they take their time and pose for pictures and sign autographs. Well, I did not have the chance to take pictures with them the evening I saw the show and I regretted that. And I wanted pics with Penn & Teller dammit! So I drove down to the Rio the other night, I estimated the time frame for when I thought the show would be over. And yes, when I arrived Penn & Teller were busy meeting with their audience, so I waited until it was my turn and I took pics with them. I was super excited and look slightly crazy in the pics.......as you can see. And yes, Teller talks (in case you didn't know, Teller does not utter a single word in the show). And Penn said something to me but what it was I will keep as a secret, because that is what true magicians do.

Fries

I had dinner with my babes (Skrink) at Paymon's this evening. We are both in agreement that the best fries in town can be found there. Sooooo tasty. Full of seasoning and served with a dipping sauce that is mouth watering. I could eat there several times a week.

I'm in bed now, I need to take a shower and sleep because I have a full day tomorrow and should get an early start but I don't want to move. I'm too comfortable.
This afternoon I tried some kind of a lime drink at Starbucks. Of course that is an open invitation for a small selfie photo session. This is the result of that. Well, I really should take a shower and sleep.

Ohhhhh......before I forget. I need to tell you about my new opening line at work. It's usually been the regular "Want a dance" or "You NEED". Yes, I am totally a "wanna dance?" person.
I do not mind holding conversations with people but I'm not going to get interviewed and asked a million questions often including questions about what I might be doing when I get off work (I go home ALONE and sleep motherfucker) and bla bla bla......and then not get a dance. Do you want a dance? Great, then we can talk. If not, I have to go. OK......so my new line is "You bitches (or just bitch if I'm asking one person) need/want a dance?". Inspired by Jesse Pinkman of course. When I was caught up in Breaking Bad a while ago, bitch was a very commonly used word for me. I think I called Boss Lady bitch several times a night, she loved it (NOT). Jesse was a bad influence on me, so I blame him. The new line works well in case you wonder....... :-D
