The Adventures of TATIANA SUPERNOVA

Yaaaaaawn........

Tatiana just feels like a big yawn today, tired. And kind of BLEH. It's probably weather related.
Did some errands earlier, ate tomato soup and cheese sandwiches - AGAIN - have to do some dishes and fold some laudry still. Feed Chhaya.
Put an order in for some new food from Solid Gold for Chhaya. It's called "Sun Dancer". Right now Chhaya gets "Wolf King" but Tatiana wants to give her "Sun Dancer" too, it's the latest Solid Gold dog food. Maybe check it out for YOUR dog, if you have one. It's supposedly very good!
That should answer the question to "what else do you do?" The ever so frequent question that Tatiana gets at work.
Tatiana does STUFF, just like everybody else.

10 years later

Today the whole country is going to reminisce about 9/11. So Tatiana is joining in.
It was a Tuesday if Tatiana remembers correctly, she was sleeping. You know, Tatiana usually wakes up around noon. The phone rang and woke her up. It was her Mom calling from Sweden asking Tatiana what was going on. Tatiana had no idea what was going on, she stumbled into her roomate Mike's room, he was sleeping also. She told him to get up and together they sat on the edge of Mike's bed, watching everything on tv.
Tatiana remembers feeling really, really bad for the poor souls jumping to their death from the towers. How horrible!
Later that evening Tatiana met a friend down at The Strip, that is Las Vegas Boulevard. The Stratosphere was closed down due to the scare that it might get bombed too. People were speculating that Vegas could be an attractive target for the terrorist, being Sin City and all, full of tourists and also close to Nellis Air Force Base.
The Strip was calmer than usual but there were still people out and about, drinking and partying. Tatiana and her friend strolled up and down The Strip.
Work definitely slowed down after that. Tatiana was at Crazy Horse Too then. The club printed up a bunch of t shirts with different 9/11 motifs on them. Tatiana still has a few. Memorabilia!

When this happened Tatiana had been in Vegas for about a year already. She moved there from California.
About six months after 9/11 Tatiana ended up working at the Stratosphere as a hostess dealing with Asian, mainly Japanese, tourists and business men. That was an interesting gig. Tatiana is going to have to write a blog about experience.

Yeah, Tatiana is against war and crazy political and religious bickering. What nonsense! Maybe if more women were in power this could be avoided. Who wants to fight wars and go on bombing missions when you can do things like have afternoon tea at the Four Seasons? Or spend a day hiking to some hot springs or strolling through some fab mall? Or watch a fun movie? How about catching up on your beauty sleep? Or, the best option, dance like crazy to some hypnotic House music?

Sometimes people ask Tatiana if she is religious. "Spiritual" she usually answers. Being of Polish origin she did go through the Catholic Communion but when she got older religions like Buddhism and Hinduism started making more sense to her. And now she is spiritual. Actually there is an interview in Ode magazine, that is a magazine for "intelligent optimists", in the July/August 2011 issue, that stands out.
The subject of the interview is Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and he says something Tatiana totally agrees with, so she is going to quote this intelligent man here.

Q "Do you believe in the value of religion?"
A " I would say (I believe) in the value of spirituality. There is a difference between the two. Spirituality is the essence of all religion, and it combines the core values of humanity-compassion, love, honesty, caring. It is all- inclusive and universal. This is were the focus should be."

AMEN to that! Tatiana could not had said it better herself.

Todays pics

Here are some pics from Farm Fest. It was not very entertaining, more oriented towards people with small childern. And Tatiana does not have any of those, children that is. The moose call contest only had two contestants, how disappointing! Tatiana would think that in a place like Alaska where half of the people Tatiana encounters are extremely into hunting and fishing would had brought out more moose call talent, but no. Tatiana was tempted, for a split second, to offer her own talent in the competition, though she has no clue of what a moose sounds like. Just to liven things up a bit.
But there were some horses there. And Tatiana LOVES horses, she wants to find some to ride around here.

After Farm Fest, Tatiana and her companion stumbled upon another event called Enchanted Forrest. This was some kind of a hippie (?) gathering or something. Advertised as a music and arts festival. There was a band playing, pretty good and a small crowd of people had gathered, most of them in tye dye shirts and dread locks. As soon as Tatiana walked in there, a drunk and angry "lady", if you can call that thing a lady, approached her and demanded a ride to town for a $ 5 donation. No thank you. Tatiana declined. Then she got approched by a group of dusty, frozen kids asking for money. Hellooooo, go ask your parents!
The Forrest Fair was not at all amusing. Tatiana was hoping that it would be like a mini Rainbow Gathering, she has been to one of those once but this was far from it.

Tatiana made a mental note today. It is probably time to return to The Lower 48, sometimes in the near future.

Lame

While browsing online today Tatiana found out that Sarah just had an article about boobies published in the Las Vegas City Life, a weekly free magazine that comes out in Las Vegas (of course).
Here you can read the quite funny article

free my ta-tas!

While looking through the online version of City Life, Tatiana also came across something a guy wrote about a dancer and his encounter with her. Tatiana thought it was kind of lame and she couldn't help but comment on it.
This is what she wrote:
"Sorry but that was kind of lame. I am a dancer and you must have found "Pink" in the trashy section of the club. Or you just tweaked the description of her a little to fit the dumb stereotypes people have about dancers/strippers.
If you want to read about a real dancer, read MY blog!
www.fargosisters.com
Click on the blog option and enjoy!"

To mention some things Tatiana thought were lame, that would be tha language of the dancer, like "for reals". Do most people even talk like that? Traaaashy!
And how she referred to JK Rowling as "the bitch who wrote those Twilight books".
Also the 'it's at this point in the presentation, that I'm made aware of certain "a la carte" services that can be provided for an additional fee." Suuuuuure, whatever.
Tatiana does not like a single thing about this story besides the picture used for it of a girl climbing on a really tall pole. Besides that it's not good at all. But apparently good enough for City Life. Bah! Tatiana can come up with way better tales from the strip club than that. Tatiana does not know the guy that wrote this piece, he might be very nice, nothing against him, she just doesn't like this particular story.

And you can read that article here

no touch

What do you think?

Burning Man

Tatiana is surprised that she encounters many people that never heard of Burning Man, Tatiana is referring to Americans now.
Tatiana is planning on getting her tickets for Burning Man as soon as they get released next year. She has been wanting to go for years now but just didn't do anything about it, well enough of that. It's ON next year!!!
If you want to know more about this event you can google it.
OR check out this blog

wonderhussy

If you like reading about Tatiana's adventures, chances are you will like this blog too!
And Sarah, the girl that writes that blog, just returned from Burning Man, so there are plenty of fun pictures to see and lots to read about the event.

A girl at work, Kate, invited Tatiana to go to Ibiza with her next year. That is something Tatiana would like to do too.

Farm Fest

Tatiana is planning on checking out this event today. It's a down home country festival y'all!
You can do things like go on a hayride, enter a pie eating contest (hmmmmm Tatiana really likes pie) or try your luck in a moose call competition. Now the moose call thing seems very interesting!

It's kind of cold here, so Tatiana needs to bundle up today. Maybe her gray skinny Diesel jeans, the Hunter's and one of her cozy scarfs?
