The National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother

When I was in Portland the other day with Desi we went to a place called The National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother also known as The Grotto. We are actually both Catholic, although I consider myself more spiritual since a while. I don't want to identify myself with any one religion and I am still trying to understand/figure out a lot about the meaning of life and the reason for being here, what happens after death, why is there suffering and evil and all those questions that most of us ponder from time to time.
The Grotto is a beautiful place, many trees and plants, it is very lush. I got the chills and felt a bit emotional a few times, even cried a little. Especially when reading about apparitions and when I think about death and people who have passed on. Where are they? I can NOT accept that death is the end.

May Peace Prevail On Earth.

Saint Francis of Assisi is my favorite because he is the patron Saint of animals and nature. I can relate to that.

Our Lady of Częstochowa (The Black Madonna), which is in Poland. The Grotto has a replica.

I recommend a visit here! Dogs are allowed to be walked on the lower level of The Grotto.
Sadly some people think it is OK to spit out their gum, leave behind their cigarette butts, plus other trash they are too lazy to put away properly and we even found a condom. I picked that up plus whatever else I just mentioned. So extremely disrespectful. People that trash have no respect for THEMSELVES, this reflects on how they view themselves. Trashy.

Depeche Mode Global Spirit Tour Portland

So.....this past Monday I saw Depeche Mode in Portland with Desi. I decided months ago that I WOULD see them this tour, Global Spirit Tour no matter what. Last time I saw them was in Vegas in 2006 when they did Touring the Angel but I have loved this band a long time. ❤️
I was SO excited to finally see DM again. They are so good live, Dave Gahan has the most amazing voice and he is just great.
Do I even have to say it? They put on a great show. I loved it.

Where's the Revolution? Also during Enjoy The Silence they showed different animals on the screen....I liked that.

This man is WOW .....in so many ways.❤️

Sometimes words are not enough....I am so VERY grateful that I was able to see Depeche Mode. ❤️
I feel sad and empty when certain large events in my life are over when they are over.....like that's it? Is it really over? NOOOOOOO! But it is over, I have the memories left and of course the music. It was Depeche Mode playing in the car afterwards of course....Hopefully that was not my last Depeche Mode concert.

As you can see mine and Desi's pic is trending at #DepecheMode.

I really hope I dream about Dave Gahan (my new BF) tonight! ❤️

A Rainy Kind Of Day

Today was a rainy kind of day....I got myself a lemon tart with meringue. Almost too pretty to eat.

Then I did errands and Chhaya took me for a walk. Fed a new cat friend I made in the park while Chhaya barked at us from inside of the car. A rainbow peeked out. Rainbows are amazing.

When I got home I made myself some Earl Grey tea, I drink my tea with sugar and lemon. I love the bergamot in Earl Grey.....it smells so good!

Now I think it is time for a nap.

Vegetarian Awareness Month

October is vegetarian awareness month and I will do my "duty" and spread the word about the benefits you gain from being a vegetarian......
The following is taken from worldvegetarianday.navs-online.org

Vegetarian Diets
Reduce the risk of major killers such as heart disease, stroke and cancer while cutting exposure to foodborne pathogens
Provide a viable answer to feeding the world’s hungry through more efficient use of grains and other crops
Save animals from suffering in factory-farm conditions and from the pain and terror of slaughter
Conserve vital but limited freshwater, fertile topsoil and other precious resources
Preserve irreplaceable ecosystems such as rainforests and other wildlife habitats
Decrease greenhouse gases that are accelerating global warming
Mitigate the ever-expanding environmental pollution of animal agriculture

What are you meat eaters waiting for? Start reducing your meat intake.
The misconceptions that you need to eat meat every day to get a balanced diet, stay healthy and feel like you had a meal that satisfied your hunger are just that.....not true.

Harmony Farm Sanctuary

Me an Desi went back to Harmony Farm in Sisters the other day so we could meet the lady that owns the place, say hello to the animals and bring some stuff (donations). Robine (the owner) took her time and walked us through, told us about her place and the animals and we got to meet and pet most of them. I was in animal love heaven. SO CUTE. All of them. And so curious, nice and cuddly.

This baby calf's name is Norman. He was adorable. The most kind eyes with long lashes. He just wanted to be together with us.....most of the animals wanted to be close and part of what we were doing.

A Mama and her baby.

People should spend more time with animals so they can really understand how sentient and beautiful they are......then they should ponder a bit more about if they still think eating meat is a good idea.
