Chhaya Approved

Welcome to Chaos !!

Chhaya Approved

This is a dish that is Chhaya approved. Steak with carrots. I cook two or three large carrots until soft. Cut them up in small pieces and mix a little butter in with them for taste. Then I lightly fry some steak (in olive oil) and cut it up in small pieces. It's raw on the inside but looks brownish on the outside. Mix it all together and Chhaya gobbles it up. She also likes yams. Sometimes a little brown rice. I give her natural steak free from antibiotics, hormones and preservatives because that's what I would pick for myself if I ate steak. If the piece is big enough it will make for a meal two days in a row. I just cut in in half and prepare the other piece the next day. Chhaya says "YUMMY!"

What a good girl.....most dogs would not stop to take a picture 🙂 I put pumpkin in Jax's food.

Nice! I started adding sweet potato and microwaved green peas and French beans to the beef and carrot mixture, my dog likes it.

Do you feed Chhaya any kibble or just the cooked food?

Pumpkin and rice (pref brown rice) is really good to make their poop harder. When their poop is hard it eliminates the stuff that's inside their anal glands. Sometimes those get full of whatever it is that accumulate inside the anal glands and you have to take your dog to the vet to get them extracted (or you can do it yourself if you know how).
Pumpkin is really good for that issue and it's also good for other reasons.

Yes.....I give her a kibble called Sundancer by Solid Gold. And I give her some canned food too, usually by Solid Gold or Wellness. She also likes cottage cheese mixed into her kibble.
I give her avocado every time I eat it, so usually on a weekly basis.
I have tried different stuff. Like the Freshpet Deli that you can get in the cold section at PetCo, she likes that too mixed in her kibble. That one seems good for a varied diet.
And right now she gets a treat called Wild Stix by Blue, she LOVES those. And Gobbled Up Beggar Dog Biscuits that I got at Fred Meyer.

In that pic she looks intense.

Cher ruptured her anal gland twice, carrots help. No way would she let anyone stick their finger up her butt to juice it. So gross! Did you know you can make dog treats with just baby food and whole wheat flour? I can imagine you can sub it with rice flour too. The soft food can be bad on their teeth.

Usually dogs rupture their anal glands because there is stuff in their anal glands/sacs that needs to get expressed. If it doesn't come out the natural way (by pooping) you have to, or should go to the vet and get their anal sacs emptied. The vets do it all the time and there is nothing gross about it, cheaper and less painful for the dog than a ruptured anal gland.
