Zapper

Welcome to Chaos !!

Zapper

My friend Jim gave me a mosquito zapper the other day (Thank You!) and I put it up. I don't know if I have seen any reduction in the amount of mosquitoes yet, there are plenty out there still. I live in the forest with many areas of standing water surrounding the house, the water is a breeding ground for mosquitoes. When I let Chhaya out after sundown she comes back home with so many mosquitoes on her, it's absolutely gross, I swat her with a towel and then I walk around the house several times a day and swat the walls with the same towel, there are dead mosquitoes all over the house. BARF! First I felt bad for killing them, because I take out all other insects (even flies) but now I just kill them. I don't care anymore. I even got bit on my eyelid twice while sleeping in the last couple of months, woke up with a swollen eye. Sometimes I can hear them at night, the bzzzzzzz noise coming closer and closer. I think they are so gross!

Has the zapper a manual that says how large area it can protect?
I still suspect you need the propane driven "industrial strength" type mosquito trap to cover the outside, with the property size you've got.

"First I felt bad for killing them, because I take out all other insects (even flies) but now I just kill them."

LOL , they would have no problem with killing you.
Like by spreading malaria if they could.

    1 acre coverage.
Well, I am a human being. I'm supposed to be nice and be aware of others.....even if it's insects.
    🙂

I completely agree Tatiana! I am constantly conflicted by the desire to have a nice clean house, and the thought that I do not have the right to kill any kind of animal just because it is considered a pest!

Did you read about the Swedish woman that fell from a building and died trying to rescue a seagull chick by putting it back into it's nest.
She was probably attacked by the seagulls when she got close to the nest.
I've seen them chasing horses when they have chicks on the ground.
They are also predators so they kill other birds and their chicks for food.
She had a child, three year old i think.

I dont think anyone should abuse animals , I never do and I dont see the point in doing it, but I wont give them the same moral standing as humans.

I think a deer shot by a hunter actually dies more "humane" then if it was killed by a predator like a wolf or by age or disease.
And it's going to die, one way or the other.
