Sightseeing

Welcome to Chaos !!

Sightseeing

After passing out from lack of sleep, I got up around 10 pm....took a quick shower, brushed my teeth, threw on some jeans, a hoodie and sneakers then me and my brother went out for a few hours of late night sightseeing in Stockholm.
We did a loop from Söder, through Gamla Stan (Old Town) down to City and Östermalm.
It was like I was never gone. This is me looking at the view of beautiful Stockholm from Gondolen.

Dalahästar. These are traditional statuettes carved out of wood then painted, usually red but they come in different colors. Many people that visit Sweden as tourists will end up bringing one home, most of the time not as large as the ones in the pic.

Mårten Trotzigs Gränd. This is the narrowest street in Stockholm, you can find it in Gamla Stan. Old Town.

More from Gamla Stan. I bought a latte and it was gross but I sipped on it while walking. Tomorrow I'm going to have a proper kaffe latte and some prinsesstårta (my fave cake).

I found a payphone. I needed a pic wit it. Of course. It's good that my brother is a patient and willing photographer.

My brother Robert.

Sergels Torg aka Plattan.

I'm so ready for sleep now, have to catch up on it. Godnatt!

Those troll things with the dalahästar are freaky. I have this ap that shows cameras all over the world. If you stood in the street in Borgholm I could see you! No cameras are close to Stockholm though :-(

What are those Troll looking dolls......they look like they are from a scary fairy tale.....eeeeek?

The trolls are commonly depicted in old Swedish fairy tales.....look at some of the paintings of John Bauer, some of my personal faves btw. Trolls were part of old Swedish belief back in the day.

I had one of those red/Orange painted carved wooden horses when i was little. I am pretty sure it was a gift from some well intending family member or friend. I was about 4 or 5 years old and it was one about the size of the ones in the picture you took. That horse was one of my favourite toys and its still at my parents' house. I remember carrying it around the house with me , knowing i had the best toy horse i had ever seen in all the toy stores i had ever been in. Plus my friends were all Jay because they wanted painted horses too.

Actually the horses in the pic are huge....the one in the middle is probably knee high.....most people buy the normal size dalahäst, plus the really big ones are very very expensive. A small authentic one is around 270 kronor, depending on where you buy it of course.
