Plowed Through

The last three days I have been feeling slightly handicapped. I've had limited mobility in my neck and it also kind of hurt. Not sure why but I think it's linked to a small cold that I also had at the same time.....nose and throat. I mean I could not lean my head back or turn it to the side yesterday, super stiff. But today I feel much better and I think that I should be fully recovered in a few days. I started my day with a 20 min run in the park today and now I am sitting at Sambalatte. Then I have to do some errands and just go on with my day.
So last night I had to get something new to read. I've been itching for a new book and was curios about The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins. So I plowed through it last night and this morning, it was good but now I want to read some Swedish crime novels......something by Lars Kepler I think. Somebody gifted me an Amazon gift card recently (THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!! HUGS!!!!) and I will put that to use. I love to read, best quality time spent there is.

I saw the 50 Shades Of Grey trilogy laying out at Barnes & Noble last night. Somebody asked me if I had read those books. No and I have no interest in doing so either. Well, actually I skimmed through the first book one rainy afternoon in NYC when I ran into a bookstore to take cover from the rain. The first book had just came out and I wanted to see what all the talk was about. I think I spent 30 -45 minutes looking through it. I was not impressed whatsoever with the story and the language. And I'm not going to see the movie either.
On the other hand, I am going to go and watch Chappie on the big screen. Yolandi Visser (aka Yo-Landi Vi$$er) and Ninja from Die Antwoord are in it and I love Yolandi and I like Die Antwoord, so therefore I have to see Chappie.

Girls Night Out

Yesterday me and Julia had a girls night out. What does that mean you might wonder?
For some it means going to Thunder From Down Under or The Chippendales to watch some oiled up beefcakes gyrate awkwardly while hoards of women scream, or perhaps go to some bar or club and have annoying guys approach you because they want something that I am not interested in delivering. OK.....I went to Thunder From Down Under with a male friend once, it was interesting but kind of like meh......When I worked at Sapphire and Olympic Garden they would have male strippers entertaining the ladies so I have seen that and sure it's fun but not really my thing. Now there is a gay strip club around here supposedly (unless it closed down)......meaning men entertaining men. THAT might be fun.
No, me and Julia are way more sophisticated than to bother with guys. Especially drunk, clingy and annoying guys, the kind often found at bars or clubs.....YUCK. We wanted to have late night latte and macaroons (or macarons whichever way you prefer to spell it) so we went to The Beat downtown Vegas.
I wanted to go to a different coffee shop first but they were closed. The Beat is OK, there is an art gallery in the same building and I find that very interesting. We met a photographer that was preparing a room for his work and he did have some amazing photography there.
So yeah, late night lattes and macaroons = girls night out. Then we went for a walk to Container Park and went up in the tree house and admired the view. Although I am very scared of heights but Julia forced me to go all the way up to the top.

Copy

The other night I encountered a person that told me he knows a girl that looks just like me. He thought I was her at first. A copy he said. This is not the first time I've had somebody say this to me. There has been some confusing moments in the past of mistaken identity involving myself. One time a friend brought me a magazine to show me a picture of a girl that she thought was me, it looked a lot like me but no.....it was some other girl.
The thing that is very different about the most recent copy confusion is that this girl that supposedly looks like me, or I look like her, lives in Chicago. Is from Poland but also Sweden just like me AND has the same name as my half sister that is out there somewhere. Maybe it's her? It's a small world sometimes. Yes, I have a half sister. Well, a sister that I do not know, never met her. I have a brother too, he lives in Stockholm and I know him.
I MUST be a descendant of Genghis Khan like I jokingly claim, he fathered many children. That's why there are some girls out there that look just me.

Natural Art

There is so much beauty in the desert. It's been raining here and I have been enjoying the weather and the fresh air that comes with the rain. Found a "new" park close to the house (new for me and Chhaya that is) so we have been there twice now, walking laps. Look at this tall plant. I love it! So cute. You can't really determine the height of this plant from the pic but it was like double my height. Very tall.

I am one of those people that believe that plants/flowers/trees etc have feelings and thoughts. So I try to be nice to them and yes, I sometimes talk to them. And there are times I feel bad when I eat stuff that was once alive, like vegetables. Are you like that too?
Something grew just so I could eat it, that makes me very grateful. I'm glad that I don't eat animals.
And the color on this plant, I guess some sort of cactus, the shade of purple is just gorgeous.

I love the desert. I am in on one my pensive moods tonight.....thinking about life and death. I'm going to die one day and just be gone and not be here anymore? I can't accept that.
That's cruel. That is one of the reasons I think life is suffering. Cause in the end you die.
What a reward......

I think it is so beautiful when there is an opening in the clouds and a beam of sun shines through. Natural art. Is God out there somewhere? Perhaps above the clouds or inside the plants and the animals that we share this beautiful planet with. Please be more mindful of animals and plants and remember how much they give us. Respect nature and all living beings around you. Us humans tend to think it's all about us. But it's not. I believe that every single plant, animal and insect is here for a reason. Probably a much more important reason than that I exist and stomp my way through life, consume, trash, pollute, create noise.
What do I really contribute that is so positive and important? Not much to be realistic. A tree gives so much more than I do. I know this. Therefore I love the trees and the plants and all the animals and other living beings and I have to become even better at being a human worthy to exist on this planet.

Viva Las Arepas

So a few days ago I tried a new place to eat (for me). Viva Las Arepas, they serve Venezuelan food there. I love trying new food as long as it doesn't consist of meat and insects. Viva Las Arepas is located on Las Vegas Blvd and Oakey. An arepa is a flatbread and then you get whatever fillings that are on the menu. I got two arepas and I thought they were good, especially after I drizzled some hot sauce on top. I also tried a sweet bread that I did not care for too much and a drink made form sugar cane and lime, it was OK but way too sweet.
I would go here again if in the area and hungry, the arepas were yummy and very affordable.

Enorme

I've spent like five hours or longer in a mall marathon session with Julia this afternoon.
You need way more than a five hour window to cover even a fraction of what Las Vegas has to offer as far as shopping goes. The bra I REALLY wanted, a Victoria's Secret designers collection bra.....beautiful, white decorated with gorgeous crystals was only available in a 34D. I am NOT a D, Julia is a D but I have small boobs. The sales lady thought I should get it anyways, "try it on, it looks like it will fit you.". No, if I am going to get a bra that costs $200 plus it needs to fit PERFECTLY. So I had to decline, sadly cause I've been wanting that bra.
Oh well....life goes on. I got a "regular" bra instead. A yellow Very Sexy push up, that is the name of the style "Very Sexy". But now I'm not sure I like it that much, I might exchange it for another yellow I've seen that is very cute. I want a yellow bra. That much I know.

Anyhow. You can't have a marathon mall session without some fuel first. The fuel today consisted of enorme vanilla lattes with whipped cream and some pastries and then me and Julia were good to go.
It's been raining basically all day in Vegas. I came home a while ago with a pizza from Pieology, a smoothie and some dessert from Whole Foods. I am STUFFED like a Polish pierogi. Now I'm going to peak outside and if the rain has stopped or at least if it's not pouring down anymore I will get dressed and take Chhaya out. Then sleep.
