This is what I think about....

......the Kentucky Derby and other events when animals run or fight for the sake of entertaining humans.
I am against it. Of course, I am one of those annoying animal lovers.
Actually I was thinking about writing an entry about the Kentucky Derby yesterday but decided against it, for the moment. I sometimes have an idea for a blog but then I put it off for another time, or forever. So today when I was checking my comments I saw that one of my nice readers left me a comment and some of it was about the Kentucky Derby. So I commented back. And this entry is basically what I replied back in my comment.
I do not know much about the Kentucky Derby. I know it is a horse race that I believe happens once a year. I read somewhere that there are about 36 000 horses bread every year but only one can win the Kentucky Derby.
It is a dangerous and brutal race. Many horses get injured and out of those, many get put down due to their injuries because the owners/investors do not think it is worth keeping the horse alive. Two examples of horses put down due to injuries that happened at the race......Barbaro and Eight Belles.
And what happens to the horses that retire from the race? Well, many of them end up in slaughter houses. What a nice place to end up after you have faithfully served and entertained humans. Would you treat your beloved dog or cat like that?
I am also totally againts dog fighting, bird fighting, Greyhound racing, fox hunting and zoo's.
Fortunately there are people out there that love animals so much that they opened up sanctuaries for them. I really admire people like these, they make me want to better myself as a person.
One place is called Black Beauty Ranch and I think about half of the animal residents there are equines.
Then there is Old Friends Equine, a place where race horses can retire and live well instead of getting slaughtered.
I could never attend the Kentucky Derby because I would be upset and sad. It reminds me of of when the Romans used to make animals fight each other or humans for the entertainment of the masses. I hope that events like the Kentucky Derby will be outlawed soon and I also think that in the future we will look back at stuff like this and shake our heads in disbelief over that we once used to think this was entertainment.
I think more and more people are realizing that animals are our friends and in my opinion equal to us. They should not have to race, fight or be held in cages for our entertainment.
One more thing, the hats women are wearing at the Kentucky Derby are so ridiculous looking. My advice to the wannabe British Royals is, if you want to feel like royalty, retire that lame hat and go enjoy some afternoon high tea at the Four Seasons or at The Ritz.

TOKIDOKI

Tokidoki Barbie

Tatiana LOVES Tokidoki. Tokidoki means sometimes in Japanese. It is a brand and the absolutely super KAWAII (cute in Japanese) characters appear on t-shirts, accesories, shoes etc. There is even Tokidoki make up.
This is Tatiana's LeSportsac Tokidoki purse, it is very KAWAII as you can see. Pink on the inside. The outside full of little characters.

There are some Tokidoki make up bags at Sephora that Tatiana wants.

Best bird viewing in Alaska

Tatiana has a hot tip for all the bird enthusiasts out there. The best bird viewing in Alaska is at the dump in Soldotna. There are thousands of birds hanging out there, lots of eagles too - though none in this pic. Tatiana has never seen so many birds gathered in one place before. Chhaya loves that place, from inside of the car of course. Why does Tatiana go to the dump? She recycles. Do you?

SUN - Finally!

Woke up to sunshine. Finally. Besides that I am too tired and too unmotivated to have anything else to say here. About to jump in the shower, brush my teeth, put in my contacts and go and get my breakfast - my latte. After that I am going outside to soak up the sun, like a lizard.

Cold and Gloomy

It is so cold and gloomy out - I am ready for sunshine and warm weather. I am so beyond over the cold.
It doesn't feel overly inspiring to spend time outside, whether it's with Chhaya or going for a jog when it's cold outside.
Friday night at worked SUCKED. I do not usually complain about that because most of the time I do not care too much. But we have two new hires at the club that I hope do not stick around for too long. Why? Because they both look like some washed up druggies that got all their tattoos made in prison. One of them would probably not get hired in too many clubs. And that is the reality. I am not the owner or the manager but I believe that the girls kind of represent the club and therefore there should be a certain standard held. Nobody is perfect - me included - though you shouldn't be scared or repulsed when you look at the "talent" in a strip club. Quality over quantity. Definitely.
Also, I do not sit with people just so they buy me a $ 10 drink. Some girls might, like the ones that just got hired or the ones working on getting wasted. I understand that the club makes $ 10 from every glass of ice mixed with soda water and cranberry juice that I drink. But I do not make anything from that. So from now on, I am not going to suffer through painfully boring conversations and having cigarette smoke blown in my face and all over my $ 100 bra just so the club can make $ 10.
I am not putting myself through that. What did I get? NOTHING. Besides acute second hand smoke poisoning. Smoking at clubs and bars should be banned, not everybody wants to be exposed to that poison, put in smoking areas and let the non smokers breathe clean air.
I do not mind sitting and talking to people for free, I do that a lot - because I want to. But when I am being told what to do and get NOTHING in return, no thanks - no more. Other girls might be ok with that. I am not. I'd rather sit by myself.
Therefore I stayed home last night, I was not in the mood to work. Friday night was such a disaster that it totally made me unmotivated to go in there yesterday.
Instead I took a nice, long bubble bath and relaxed. In my beautiful solitude with air smelling like vanilla and caramel.

Good Morning......

I am having some serious New York withdrawals, it feels weird to go from the busy scenery of New York and everything that place has to offer to quiet little Kenai. I don't have many plans for my day today, the usual, I need to clean a little, get my latte and take Chhaya for a walk.
Later tonight I am working. Maybe something interesting will take place at work so I can write about it here tomorrow.
I also did a phone interview this morning with somebody from a Canadian magazine that is writing about the oil boom in The Bakken. Meaning North Dakota. They want to know if it's really possible for dancers to make $ 2000/night. So I chatted a little bit with the person that called me this morning. Once again, I did NOT make $ 2000/night in Williston, not even half of that. I was happy with what I made, I am sure some girls made more than me, since I am not aggressive in my approach. And a lot of other things that I am not going to talk about now. And some girls made less than me.
But to the girls that think that they will be making $ 2000/night or more, hmmmmmm.......probably not. But try for yourselves and good luck!
Oh, one more thing about that and the dancing in Williston. I get e mails and comments on a previous blog I wrote about Williston from dancers that want info on how to get hired at the clubs there. I have been nice and answered each one with the info and some of them, some - not all, don't even have the decency to respond to me with a thank you. Whatever! That is lame, I am not going to try to raise a grown person but if somebody does something for me, I say thank you. Just saying.
