What else did I do at Burning Man......I volunteered or like I call it, participated. To me, once you have been going to Burning Man a certain amount of times, you should participate beyond you just getting there, setting up your own camp and doing your own thing. Burning Man needs participation from volunteers and a lot of people do volunteer. Making Burning Man happen is no joke. A whole city is being built from nothing and then completely taken down. This year about 63 K people attended, about 10-20 K less than recent years.
So what did I do? I made snow cones in Center Camp, I did that in 2024 as well. I love doing that. I volunteered as a "slinger" at Arctica where you can get ice. I have done that a few times and it is a lot of fun. And I helped take down Center Camp, aka "strike" and that can get pretty intense. All the sun damage on my face, neck, chest, arms and hands in the last 15 years or so is mainly from being at Burning Man. I try to cover up and use sun screen but sometimes I 'forget" or get caught up in the moment. I need several full body, not only face, laser treatments and a full red light panel at home.
During the day at Black Rock City I usually look something like this.

Quetzalcoatl at Foam Home.

I did the foam thing. I love the foam camp, Foam Home. They are the best! They educate people on consent, respect, plants, being kind to animals and not eating them and so much more. They work very hard to make Foam Home happen. And they shower you. You get clean! And Alex and Allyson Grey paint inside the foam tent while people foam. An amzing experience always. Thank You Foam Home!
At Burning Man you often get asked how many times you have been to Burning Man.....to me it is kind of irrelevant UNLESS you are a Birgin (a first timer at Burning Man), or if you have been going for like 30 years. Or like Danger Ranger, I think this was his 39th year? To me what is important is what you do and how you act at Burning Man. Do you participate? Pick up litter?
One night I was biking back to my camp, I saw this well and decided to stop and look at it. A wishing well, people had written down their wishes in a book that was there. My wishes are to see and be with my loved ones and my pets again. Or to have them here again with me, to travel back in time when my life was "normal". I was standing there by myself looking through the book and contemplating life when a person approached towards the wishing well and stopped on the other side of me. Our eyes met and and we nodded hello to each other. He (it was a male) was silent the whole time. He stuck his hand into the wishing well, pulled up a ball and handed it to me. It said HEAL on it, our eyes met again and he waved his hand goodbye to me and I waved back and he turned around and walked off. This is a perfect example of a Burning Man moment or like we say at Burning Man - the Playa provides and yes it does.

I made a visit to Orgy Dome, I have been there twice before and NO I do not have sex in there although most people that go into the Orgy Dome do, that is kind of the point. I met somebody this year that wanted to see what is was like in there so we went. What is great about Orgy Dome is that it is a safe place to be intimate with somebody and they (the Orgy Dome camp people) give everybody that enters a rather thorough lesson in consent. I don't want to say too much about Orgy Dome besides that contrary to what some media/people say about it like that is it gross, weird, smells or whatever - NO it is not like that. Listen, everybody that goes in there is an adult, consent is strictly adhered to, no single lurkers, people seem very happy to be there, no smells. Grow up! To me Orgy Dome is great. Our Orgy Dome wristbands, Consent Is Sexy.

I found a pink heart (rose quartz maybe?) in the playa dust and a card with a bunny and it says "Patience in investment. You are cultivating a future you'll be grateful for".

Pictures of me. Some people are way too aggressive with their picture taking at Burning Man, often women that spent hours putting together the "perfect" outfit and the "perfect" hair and make up, chasing the perfect picture in front of some art installation preferably while the sun is setting, where they take up way too much time posing and monopolizing the art installation for sometimes hundreds of pictures and videos too, looking in my opinion quite ridiculous in the process. Like WTF?
My dress was $3 at Walmart, old sportsbra, those pink boots have been going to Burning Man with me since like 2015 and there is no make up and no hair styling here. Yes, I have several "nice" picures of me at Burning Man where I did put some effort into looking cute and I am posing for the picture but some people at Burning Man really do take it too far in trying to capture some imaginary perfect Burning Man moment.

This year a person told me I was her favorite person at Burning Man.......! And I made friends. I had a wonderful time.
I drove away from Black Rock City on Tuesday afternoon September 8. See you next year!

Burning

What burns during Burning Man? The Man always burns and so does the Temple. Man on Saturday and Temple on Sunday. During the week leading up to those burns there are usually some other art installations going up in flames.
I think that probably 90% of the population at Black Rock City gather around in a circle around the Man to watch "him" burn. The fireworks are always spectacular. Extra bonus.....no animals get traumatized.

The Temple is just heartbreaking. But beautiful. Just walking inside the Temple during the week makes me cry. In 2018 I brought Chhaya's ashes with me to Burning Man. I did not spread any of the ashes, they ashes are intact. Still. This year I brought my Mom's ashes to Burning Man and I held her ashes while the Temple burned. And I put my Mom's pictures in the Temple, together with my Senna's pictures and my soulmate's pictures in there as well.
At this point I am only here because I have Kaya and because I am still alive. But I am SAD.
I am looking for signs everywhere from them from wherever they are and I received some signs at Burning Man.
The fire from the Temple was burning strong and hot. It is really intese......many emotions. A lot of people are crying. Somehow I met a couple, they stood behind me, from France that grabbed me and held me in an embrace for a while. Merci. Why does it hurt so much to be alive?

More Axis Mundi Art

And more Axis Mundi art.
Next time, which I hope will be next year I am definitely going on a couple of art tours like I did this year. You sit back, relax and enjoy, it is like sightseeing on a tourbus.
I loved this group of animals. Because I just LOVE animals. Animals are amazing and are the most precious and beautiful beings on this planet. Everything alive, animals, insects, trees, plants are amazing......human beings are to me the worst thing on the planet. Obviously I am a human so yes, that includes me. I try to be a good human to all the animals and insects and plants that I encounter. And because I feel this way, I think that is why I loved this piece of art so much. It spoke to me.
The Council of Animals (What to do about the Humans).
Read about it here.

The Coyote - so cute!

Only Love Will Remain. Beautiful! I wonder if this art will be put somewhere after Burning Man?

Axis Mundi Art

The art (some, far from all) at Burning Man 2026 Axis Mundi.
I really liked this rabbit, Mona Moon, sitting on a melting moon, looking lonely. This is how I feel, lonely. Sometimes alone and ok but other times lonely and sad because of significant losses that changed my life forever. Changed into forever deep sadness. The people that were very important to me are gone.

D.A.R.E - Does Art Reside Everywhere. In memory of the artist's brother who passed away from a heroin overdose.
I wish I could say I do not know this kind of loss and heartache but I do and it is consuming me.
In a world shaken by climate crisis, economic instability and wars, a mysterious phenomenon that no one understands sends the Eiffel Tower, an emblem of French pride, crashing into the Nevada desert. From its ruins emerges Eiffela Broken Dream, a new symbol inviting humanity to rebuild a better world.

The art looks different depending on if you view it during the day or after dark. A lot of the art is lit up after dark.

Dust And Mud

Not only was there dust.....there was also mud at Burning Man this year. Why not? At least my tent did not blow away and it was only muddy for like half a day. In 2016 when I went to Burning Man with my brother......hold on, wait that was TEN YEARS AGO and those ten years flew by and the reality of that is making me feel all kinds of weird feelings. Anyhow, in 2016 me and my brother arrived, put up the tent and the shade structure and then biked out to see some stuff. And when we returned the shade structure was gone, it blew away. That is when I learned to bring the proper stakes to keep things in place. We located the shade structure and put it back up but it was like mangled. Anyhow during this year's dust storms and winds I managed to squeeze in some activities.

The Temple. I went there three times and put up pictures of my loved ones that passed on.

I went on a couple of art tours. This one was on the Cencus art car. My company was my friend Ming that I met at Burning Man a few years ago, we kept in touch.

Sometime around 7 am or so on Friday I woke up to the sound of raindrops that just would not stop. It rained for a while and I was hoping it would not be a repeat of 2023 but by the early afternoon I was out walking on the playa.

Friday evening I hopped on The Monaco for a sunset art cruise. We made it to the trash fence when the fuel pump went out and Danger Ranger, who happened to be onboard as well, came to the rescue and towed The Monaco with his truck back to camp. Danger Ranger is amazing, I really wish I would had asked him if I could take a picture with him but I felt too shy to ask. Instead I stared at him like.......wow.
