Great Week

Aaaaaahhhhhh.......I'm sitting at Sambalatte around "normal" people after a weekend at work around the usual Vegas strip club craziness. It's so nice to sit here, slowly drink my latte amongst other quiet people that either work on their laptops, read or engage in quiet and sober conversations. No loud music and yelling......wonderful!
I had a a great week. I went to Red Rock, Gold Strike, finally got a super nice bathing suit that I have been wanting for a while and yesterday I met up with Shelley for lunch.
Shelley is my oldest (as in friendship years) friend in the US. I have many firsts with her. I went to Utopia with her back in the day, first time for both of us. People that used to go to Utopia here in Vegas (a legendary club that closed down a long time ago) still talk about the Utopia days. It was THAT good. Kind of like how people still talk about Studio 54 - the lucky ones that got to experience that era or Danceteria, Paradise Garage or Twilo in New York City.
I soooooo wish I could transport myself back in time because I would go clubbing!
Other first I had with Shelley.....I took my first E with her (at Utopia), we went to our first rave together (Narnia in California) many raves followed after that one. Those were the days when we wore big pants, tennis shoes and a small top of some sort, it was all about being comfortable so you could dance all night long. We tried many different clubs for work together, the first time I went to New York City to work was with Shelley. We lived together in California and then we moved to Vegas together to work here full time. She is now pregnant and very happy. I don't think she will dance (as in strip) anymore so that path is done for her and for us. I guess she can come and visit me when I'm still stripping in my 60's (hey, I work with a lady that is 65 and she makes $$$, so it's possible!) and make it rain on me while I show her my jerky geriatric moves on sore feet and bad achy hips.
Yesterday we went to a new place I found, The Crêpe Bistro at Tivoli Village. We both liked it so I think we are going back next week.

Shelley put together these two pics of us yesterday. It's us on the beach in the late 90's and then at EDC in 2012. She said " Friends Til The End" and yes, that is how I feel too. ❤

Gold Strike

Yesterday I had an AMAZING day! Can I say it again.....? AMAZING ! I finally hiked down to Gold Strike hot springs and with really good company too, Sarah Jane aka Wonderhussy came along with me. I have been wanting to go on this hike since arriving in Vegas a few months ago.....The first time I went on this gorgeous hike, over a decade ago, there was a huge warm pool down there. So big that you could not feel the bottom of it with your feet and you could actually swim across it. That pool was incredible, I called it "the blue lagoon". Well, some years ago major construction happened in the area. An overpass was built and most of the water feeding the hot springs dried up but it's back now, although the large magical pool that I called the blue lagoon is not there anymore. Kind of sad because it really was spectacular.
But there are plenty of other places to soak. Here are a bunch of pictures from yesterday......

And this is Sarah Jane....you can find her extremely entertaining blog HERE
Also check out Sarah's hat.....is says Wonderhussy! I want a hat that says Supernova on it now......! :-D

We shared some yummy chocolate.

Made friends with the cutest little duck. He wanted some of my sesame seed bar and I gladly shared.

I'm hoping to go on this hike again within the near future. Not only are the hot springs great for a relaxing and rejuvenating soak, the hike itself is extremely scenic. High canyons, lots of boulder scrambling - it's a great workout and I can't wait to do it again. Life is great!

Feral Cats & Hike

Today me, Julia and Chhaya went to the park where we walk several times a week. That park is the home to a group of feral cats, although they are rather well taken care of by animal lovers that feed them and give them water on a regular basis I thought it would be nice if we would feed them too. So that is how we started our day today, by feeding the cats. I just got six small cans at Whole Foods for the cats to eat. And Julia had a bottle of Fiji.

You can see two of the cats behind Chhaya, they are scared of dogs and waited until we were further away before approaching the food and start eating.

Here is Julia preparing the food for the cats.

Then we went to these places in following order.....Paper Source, Sambalatte, Victoria's Secret and then home to change clothes for an evening hike at Red Rock.

We caught the last rays of the sun disappearing behind the mountain inside this heart we made from our hands......

Return

I got ready and drove to work only to be told I could not work without showing them a copy of my business license. See in Vegas you need to shell out $200/year for a business license if you are going to be an exotic dancer here. You have to renew it yearly too for $200. My old one just expired (March 31) and I renewed it last week but tonight I forgot to bring in the copy of my new license. I just thought it would be OK since I have it technically.....but no. They need to actually SEE a copy of it and put it on file. Otherwise the club could get in trouble. Oh well. I'll just go back to work tomorrow. Or Friday.

I was kind of happy to return home. See last night I discovered a new ice cream flavor (for me). Limoncello by Häagen-Dazs. So on the way home I had to stop and get some more.
The best. Be warned, all you ice cream lovers out there - it's addicting! I'm very happy at home in bed with my ice cream. Oh and I have the latest Adbusters too. So I'm feeling quite content tonight.

Booze Binge

Last week I went on a booze binge. Seriously. Well, at least for me because I rarely drink.
So Wednesday after I went on my road trip I was craving a beer so I stopped and got one on the way home. Thursday I went out and had a drink at some bar called Vesper inside the Cosmopolitan. Kind of posh and totally my style. I had something called Moscow Mule and it was good. I did enjoy that drink.

Friday I went to eat at Pizza Rock, I need to go there again for the pizza, it was SO good.
I ordered a pomegranate margarita because the rim of the glass supposedly has lavender salt around it and I love lavender because in Sweden we have a candy called Viol that I LOVE. Anyhow, the margarita was kind of yucky so I drank about half and the lavender salt did not taste like Viol. Saturday night I went bowling and had a few sips of beer and a few sips of White Russian. That's a lot of boozing for me!

Today I'm nursing my hangover with a latte......no, I don't have a hangover really. So I'm sitting outside sipping on a latte and painting my toes.

I am a fun tipsy person. I can't recall last time I was actually drunk. That was a loooooong time ago. And I don't think it's fun to be drunk. What's the point really? And I don't think it's enjoying to be around drunk people either. Tipsy in a fun way - yes. But when people get obnoxious, angry, aggressive, pushy, have a chip in their shoulder that they all of a sudden want to talk about, engage in scary behavior......all of that and more when they get too much alcohol in them, then I don't want to be there anymore. I don't like that at all. Anyhow.
It's Monday. Not sure what I'm doing this afternoon yet.

Rebirth

Next month it will be two years since I got my Samsung Galaxy 3. I dropped it a few times too many and last year at some point before Burning Man I just dropped it enough so the screen cracked over the camera and I could not take selfies anymore in "selfie mode". DISASTER!
I had to hold the phone reversed to take a selfie and that's what I've been doing and it's annoying cause I don't see what I'm doing and the selfies or whatever I'm trying to capture on picture is not to my liking. I mean, just look at the pic in the previous blog with me and Chhaya in bed, I don't think I really look that awful but whatever......I still take the pics and put them on the blog. Yes.....I'm talking about extremely important stuff here on Easter Sunday like selfies but I don't celebrate Easter, so why not right? And trust me.....my world revolves around much more than selfies and pics of myself. I'm not a Kartrashian but I do like pictures. Of myself. And a plethora of other objects. If you would spend a day with me you would soon notice that I take lots of pictures of all kinds of stuff. Even a crack in a wall can look interesting.
My phone is called "the selfie machine" and I've been thinking about getting a new one since my contract is up for renewal and you used to be able to get a new phone every two years when renewing your contract. Not anymore I guess!? At least not with AT&T. Now you have to BUY the phone or make payments until it's payed off. What is up with that shit? I wanted a Samsung 6 when it comes out in a few days but it looks like the price tag on that will be over $500 (although I'm not quite sure about the exact price). And that is a lot for a phone I think, although I do use my phone everyday and often. But still. I can think of a few more things I'd rather spend $500 on.....massages and facials for example. Well, yesterday I carefully peeled of some of the cracked plastic covering the camera eye on my phone (cause it cracked even more after the last time I dropped it) and voilà (!) my selfie machine is back in action! YEAY!
I don't know how long this will last though.....Until I drop it again or some desert dust gets in there, or something like that? I do have a sturdier cover for my selfie machine......a pink cover but it's somewhere in Kenai packed away. And I'm in Vegas.
Anyhow, to celebrate the rebirth of my selfie machine.....here are the two first pics I took with it. Now we're talking.....this looks more like ME.

And this is what my cracked selfie machine looks like now. Cracked but working again so I'm happy!

HAPPY EASTER everybody!
