November Moon Over Portland

Full moon today with a lunar eclipse around Midnight where I live, so I will dig out my telescope from the depths of my closet and go outside later. Not.
I did go outside earlier though and saw the November moon over Portland. First from over here.....

And then I continued walking and saw the moon over this boat.....check out the name of the boat. Portland! I also learned on my walk this evening that Stumptown and Mudtown were considered as names for Portland before Portland officially became Portland.

So the famous Portland sign has a white stag on it, I thought it was a reindeer of some sort but learned that it is a stag. Very important! Well....the white stag has a red nose now. We are approaching Christmas after all. I am even getting my Christmas presents ready. And thinking about decorating this year. The key word here is THINKING.

What else is going on? NOT MUCH. Let me tell you....I have been in a lethargic slump with anxiety in the mornings. My hair is like one big unbrushed dreadlock that I so do not want to deal with (NOOOOO!). I've had some weird dreams that I can only vaguely remember but I know I didn't like them. Yea....morning anxiety that doesn't start to fade away until I have been up for a few hours. And it takes me a while to get out of bed because I do not want to get up and start my day.
And I was sick last week. A cold with a headache that lasted for three days. I can't remember last time I had a cold. I took some expired Tylenol that I had at home that did not help (I threw out the expired pills) so on the third day I went to the store and got some Excedrin Extra Strength (for the headache). What if I had COVID? No, I think I only had a cold that lasted a few days and that was last week, no more cold or headache. Anyhow....I am in a slump. Not sure why. Just taking one day at a time. Can't complain about anything, I have everything that I need and then some. Not sure why I am feeling this way. But I know that it will pass (yes?). Perhaps I am feeling the collective slump of the world? least my walk tonight was really nice. And I did have a good day after all.

Thanksgiving Evening

It's getting late on Thanksgiving evening. I will probably sit up for a few more hours, reading and maybe finding something interesting to watch. I watched a documentary on Bob Marley earlier. Do you have a favorite Bob Marley song? Mine is Could You Be Loved .
So Thanksgiving is about food for a lot of people. I do not spend a lot of time cooking because I do not have the patience to cook for hours. I am far from a Gordon Ramsey in the kitchen. But I managed to prepare and eat very delicious and colorful food today. The only thing I spent any time on was the potatoes that had to get peeled, boiled and then mashed. And the red cabbage had to be chopped and cooked. Then I had brussel sprouts, green beans, brown gravy and cranberry clementine sauce. And there is plenty left for tomorrow!

After my meal I went over to my neighbor Allison's home with cookies and pies.

Later I took a long walk and now I am laying on the couch with a warm puppy next to me. A very nice, warm and pleasant Thanksgiving. I hope you had a nice day as well.

State Wide Freeze the beginning of last week we (here in Oregon) were told that starting tomorrow and until the day before Thanksgiving were going to enter a two week pause. And by Wednesday last week it was announced that the pause had turned into a state wide freeze, like how it was back in March. Portland which is located in Multnomah County is facing a four week freeze (for now) and all the other counties are looking at two weeks (for now).
So starting tomorrow I am going into pause mode.
I actually really enjoyed those 2 1/2 months earlier this year of doing much of nothing. I still did stuff but not a whole lot.
This time around it will pretty much be the same except that I will take some online education courses that I have access to now which I didn't during the first freeze. I will stay up late and sleep in. Take loooooong walks, personally I believe that lots of fresh air during this pandemic and in general is very good. Clean and organize. Cross things off on the to-do list. Watch Netflix. Wax my very hairy thighs. Read a bunch. Write some blogs? ;-)
Today I got some vitamins, thought that some extra zinc and vitamin C won't hurt me. I think I might be in need of a boost of zinc anyways. And the water in the pic is called Gerolsteiner and it is full of minerals, I drink that on a regular basis. Once in a while I get a craving for a cold ginger beer, I felt that craving today. So I got some.

I looked at the restrictions/instructions for both OR and WA state and it is very obvious that many people completely ignore many of the advisories. Of course in their minds they are doing nothing wrong. This is typical human behavior.
My advise is just as not sneeze and/or cough in your hands when outside of your home and then touch stuff. It is gross, COVID or no COVID, just don't do that. Don't touch your eyes and pick your nose with germy fingers and wash your hands.

295 Days

Burning Man did not happen this year due to the pandemic. I was hoping that they were going to decide to put on the event anyways, I would had been one of the people participating but back in April Burning Man sent out the message that they decided to cancel. I know many people felt sad. I even cried.
BUT.....I am HOPING and I think that we might be able to pull it off next year.
Burning Man 2021. I got an email this evening that the fundraiser they had (and yes I donated) reached the goal and more. That is great! The Man burns in 295 days!

And if you are is a collection of messages sent to Burning Man with the donations.

I can't stand hypocrites but the world is full of them. I get it that sometimes even the best of us can engage in acts of hypocrisy, it is only human but there are degrees of hypocrisy.
Just like there are degrees of stupid.
Let's look at a few fine examples of 2020 that immediately come to mind.

Shannon Walker, the wife of a Mayor in a town called Alton located in Illinois decided to attend an illegal "bar party" and throw back a few although there were restrictions in place. But for some getting wasted is MUCH MORE important than anything else, I have seen MANY sorry examples of this myself. Of course she was very remorseful when caught (like we all are when caught doing something we shouldn't be doing). I looked at the City of Alton IL webpage and the Mayor is elected for a four year term (standard) and the yearly base salary is $88,993. Not too bad.
Also, "The Illinois Liquor Control Act requires the Mayor to serve as the Liquor Control Commissioner, with the power to enforce all laws relating to liquor control and liquor licensing". Dude, have a talk with your boozing wife, tell her to at least curb her drinking for the four years you are the Mayor. I guess the Mayor (Brant Walker) put out a post that there were some issues in the marriage and that the missus and him were living apart.

And how about Jerry Falwell Jr. and his wife Becky that like to have some interesting sexy time outside of the marriage. I don't care if that is what you are into as a married or un married couple BUT if you preach about anti-gay stuff and upholding strict Christian "values" then perhaps watching while wifey is getting it on with a 20 year old pool boy is colliding with the other stuff you are preaching about. Jerry was the president of Liberty University (a private evangelical Christian university) in Virginia but he resigned a few months ago.
Loudly proclaiming that he was "free at last, free at last. Thank God almighty, I am free at last!" Excuse you? Yeah.....those are certainly appropriate words to use when you resign a high paying position. Free at last from WHAT? In case you do not know where those words come from, Martin Luther King spoke those words in his "Free At Last" speech. What a complete moron Jerry Jr. seems to be. I guess he also said that since his resignation he can now spend more time on his neglected wife and children. That's right Jerry! Now you and Becky can have ALL the kinky threesomes and whateversomes you desire. Please stop preaching to others about morality because YOU are a hypocrite! Jerry has since his resignation from Liberty University (which was founded by his late televangelist Father) filed a lawsuit against the school for forcing him to resign. I guess he misses the annual salary of around $1 MILLION he used to receive. Who the fuck needs that kind of a salary for being the president of a university? There is MUCH more questionable stuff on Jerry and his money dealings to read for those who are curious.
Jerry Jr. is not hurting for money, his net worth is estimated to be $100 million.
Remember Jerry, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God. You better do something truly good with all those millions, think with your heart and your brain instead of your ego and your dick.
And if you still can't figure what to do with your fortune, send me an email and I will help you. I truly believe in altruism.

Ragina Gray a protester and activist in Portland got arrested for interfering with a police officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. So another Portland activist released Ragina's name and mugshot on Twitter. This resulted in a visit to Ragina's residence by a white man asking for her. Ragina is black. According to Ragina's Mother that opened the door, the man had a gun in his hand but took off, so this is a non verified statement. Now Ragina is scared, understandably so because random home visits from strangers is undesirable, that something bad might happen to her and her two children (ages 4 and 9) that she frequently brought with her to the protests in Portland.
OK, I have MYSELF been to several of the protests in Portland and almost every time they turned very loud, chaotic, people running and screaming everywhere and often teargas.
This is not an event you bring a 4 and a 9 year old to, leave children and animals at home. I do not understand why you willingly subject children and animals to crazy and potentially violent events? WHY people? Ragina's Mom could had watched the children while Ragina was out protesting. And if you are out protesting for BLM and want to defund the police, perhaps calling the police when you encounter a scary situation yourself is a bit off? Maybe call your local crackhead instead and see if they can be of assistance?

Another pastor got caught with his pants down. Again. Hillsong Church pastor Carl Lentz got let go for "moral failures", he cheated on his wife Laura. I guess Carl was unable to practice what he preached.

Portland City Commissioner, Jo Ann Hardesty called 911 to report that a Lyft driver dropped her off at a gas station, which was not her destination. The Lyft driver reported that she was acting difficult and he decided to cancel the ride, which is his right. She refused to get out of his car and a disagreement arose.
If I was a Lyft driver and somebody acted inappropriate in my car I would kick them out on the freeway if I had to after tazing their ass.
Note here that the Commissioner wants large budget cuts to the Portland police and thinks that most 911 calls are unnecessary. But her 911 call shortly before 10 pm for a Lyft incident that angered her was necessary? A Portland Commissioner's salary typically falls between $74,553 and $117,022 and the average is $86,433. WOW.....I think Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty should resign.
If Portland needs a new Commissioner I will volunteer to step in and try to conduct some order around here, Tati style.

Kylie Minogue recently released her fifteenth album, Disco and I love the songs I have heard so far. Kylie is AMAZING....I love her. ❤️️ One song is called Supernova. It must be about me..... ;-)
Check out Kylie's new album, it is really good!

Shining like a supernova
Brightest of the stars
From another galaxy
Like Jupiter and Mars

Portland is put on a "pause" starting today and this pause is supposed to last until the day before Thanksgiving. This means no gatherings with people outside your own household (recommended, not enforced), we are encouraged to get take out instead of dining in and basically be more mindful of where and who we spend our time with. In my weekly Zoom meeting with my office (yes, I "belong" to an office since a while with my own desk and everything - can you believe it?!) we were told to not come in unless absolutely necessary. Prior to this pause we were limited to 10 people total in the office. There are also some new maximum capacities set on places where people gather.
Have you had COVID-19 (yet)? I personally know two people that have and they had two different experiences with the virus. Very interesting. Remember to wash your hands! So I am basically grounded for the next two weeks.....kind of.

More Political Stuff

It is early Wednesday evening, the day after the election and the results are still saying undecided although Biden is in the lead but I am hearing mumbles about voter fraud so I am not sure what's going to happen. Again voter fraud, missing ballots, destroyed ballots etc is so wrong. I hope all of that will be addressed accordingly as it should, regardless of what party you vote for, the votes should never get tampered with and one person = one vote.
That there is even suspicion of voter fraud is deplorable in my opinion.
Meanwhile there were some decisions made on a local level here in Oregon last night. Just like my lawn sign says, people voted YES on Measure 109 to approve the use of psilocybin for therapeutic use although the details are going to take a while to work out. I feel we are moving in the right direction on this.....Santa and his reindeers were onto something a long time ago with those magic mushrooms.
Oregon also passed Measure 110 which decriminalizes the possession of hard drugs. Possession for personal use I should add. Don't think you can have a few kilos of cocaine in your backpack and not get in trouble for it should you get caught or pull some Breaking Bad shenanigans without repercussions.
I feel we are moving in the right direction here as well. I don't think drug addiction should be punishable by jail, not to mention how costly it is to prosecute and jail people for drug offenses. That money can be used in better ways.
Of course this is a complicated issue, since I have no substance abuse issues perhaps it is a bit difficult for me to relate to this but I have known plenty of people that had problems with alcohol, heroin, meth, cocaine and pills. And I do know that some people commit crimes to feed their addiction and that should not be overlooked.
What I would like to point out here is that Dr. Bronner's soap company donated generously to this measure. I love Dr. Bronner's for what they contribute to Burning Man, everything from the foam bath camp to all the amazing lectures and guest speakers they have. Very good stuff.
Since writing my blog last night I thought of something that I intended to mention but the other night while driving home and listening to the radio I heard them talk about that around 70 years ago (in the 1950s) the two parties were so similar that people had a difficult time knowing what party to vote for. There was not enough polarization (I think that is the word that was used). Today it is a completely different story and many know exactly where they stand on the political spectrum and in many cases that is dividing people instead of bringing us together. Plenty of examples of that on a daily basis.
This is a really good article that I found, it's basically describing what I think is the destruction of society as we know it.
Yeay.....we live in such fun times! :-)

Dogs 2020

Today is the day....election day. Will Trump sit another four years or is Biden going to take over? One thing to keep in mind is that some voters are not voting for Trump or Biden, they are voting for whatever political party they feel should rule. Meaning they vote Democrat or Republican, not necessary for the candidates representing each party. And let's not forget about the Libertarian Party (Jo Jorgensen) and the Green Party (Howie Hawkins) that you can vote for in the 2020 election. And according to Biden black folks ain't black if they have a problem figuring out whether to vote for him or Trump. ;-)
I have to say that I am disappointed and appalled at grown men and women on BOTH sides, Democrat and Republican making false statements, sharing fake memes and information on social media and just talking a bunch of bullshit in general. Never have I seen this much craziness over an election. Everything from murders, violence, destruction to voter fraud.
Voter fraud to me is completely unthinkable, to even think you should do that undermines the idea of democracy. People that get caught committing voter fraud should have their rights to vote taken away from them permanently and I believe in harsh punishments for that. I actually know somebody that voted for Hillary twice in the last election, got caught and last time we talked about it that individual had hired an attorney and was facing trial. Voter fraud is not cool.
Intimidation and violence because somebody does not agree with you politically is disgusting and shows that you are a human of lesser intelligence. Last time I checked this is a "free" country, you know land of there free and freedom of speech and all that stuff that Americans loudly like to point out to non Americans. Well, that means everybody should be able to support whichever candidate they want without facing punishment or ridicule.
The last three presidents prior to the current one all did two full terms (Obama, Bush and Clinton) so if that is an indication of anything then do not lose your marbles if Trump sits another four years. I called that Trump was going to get the Republican nomination in 2016 when I was at Burning Man and people looked at me like I was completely nuts.
Another thing I think is hilarious is all the people that loudly declared that they would leave the US and move somewhere else should Trump win last time.....what happened, did anyone of them actually pack up and leave or are they still complaining? I hope they got a game plan this time around if the current presidents stays. And if Biden wins then I guess they are good for at least four more years before maybe having to think about moving again.
I can tell you my three top choices should I decide to leave the US. Sweden of course since I can always go back there, Switzerland and Mauritius.
Media coverage of the election and anything political in general has been awful. I don't care what your personal beliefs are, keep that to yourself and do your job as a journalist. If you do not remember what journalism is all about then read up on it again or resign. Somebody else can take your high paying position and do a better job since you obviously are not fit to do the job right. Also I think it is important to know who owns the newspapers and what their political affiliation is (if any). Bezos, Bloomberg, Adelson, Buffet, Murdoch and Henry to name a few all play an important role in media and they are also billionaires. How do you think that affects how the news are presented in the outlets they own and therefore control? As a spectator I think that media in general have been treating Trump worse than they would treat a murderer or child molester. The hatred for the president is comparable to those who commit atrocious acts when in fact he has not done anything close to such. And no I do not agree with Trump on everything but I also do not hate him. I have true hate for some humans but he is not one of them. If you think Trump is bad then imagine how the people in Russia, Philippines, North Korea and Equatorial Guinea feel? Are you feeling just as upset when you read about the presidents of those countries as you feel about Trump?
As far as the COVID-19 situation goes and the spread of it here in the US, I do not think a Democrat would had done a better or worse job than a Republican. It is easy to point fingers. Look up per capita deaths per country and see how other places are doing. COVID-19 is most likely an endemic. Meaning here to stay.
Personal accountability is out the window. Do not blame a president for your own shortcomings. I do not go downtown Portland to loot, destroy and spray paint ACAB and Kill All Cops and then blame the president for my actions. I would also not blame the president if I should get COVID-19.
Now I strongly do believe in a serious reform of the American for profit health care system, a president can straighten that situation out.
I have not been to downtown Portland at night for a while because I got so fed up with the craziness and destruction that I witnessed with my own eyes every time I went down there over the summer. But I might go tonight. From what I understand Portland is preparing for an eruption of violence tonight. We shall se....
Look.....I am good with whatever happens this election. My candidate of choice was Bernie and he is out, I like Bernie and what he stands for. But if you want change then do YOUR part. Vote (if you are eligible). Work on YOURSELF, be a good fellow human. Most of us can improve on a lot.
The world pretty much sucks and it sucks because of us humans. What are YOU doing to make this world a better place?
I can tell you this much, if I was president I would not be liked. I have very strong opinions on certain issues.
To me since humans in general suck I am voting DOGS 2020.

Yes On Measure 109

The people of Oregon have the opportunity to vote YES on Measure 109 which would allow the use of psilocybin in treating depression, addiction and anxiety. Instead of pharmaceuticals we can go the natural way, psilocybin is found in some mushrooms. I am all for the natural way! I think that psilocybin is a great tool for self discovery as well. Of course it is not for everyone. Definitely not for children, only responsible adults and with responsible I some research first before experimenting with any substances.

I am a YES on Oregon Measure 109.
