Exodus

We left Burning Man Monday September 3 in the morning, exodus took about two hours. Not bad.

Reality had arrived - Burning Man was over for this time. I hope to be back at Black Rock City next year!

The theme for 2019 is Metamorphoses. It's just perfect. ❤️
“Omnia mutantur, nihil interit”
(Everything changes, nothing perishes)
― Ovid, Metamorphoses

“Energy can be transformed from one form to another, but can be neither created nor destroyed.”
― 1st Law of Thermodynamics

Light

The last night at Burning Man after Planet Earth was done I took my time biking home through the Playa.....I wanted to take it all in one last time before getting back to the RV and going to sleep. I knew that after a few hours of rest it would be time to get ready and return to reality.
So I came across this light and thought my bike looked kind of nice in the different shapes the light made.....and then I thought I would put my face in the light and snap a few selfies. I am not going to anger you with putting up all 20 of them (you know me, I am myself my biggest fan) but here are a few. This is the face of one week at the dusty Black Rock City on a bike.....no make up and all those filters people use to distort their real face - just bliss.

Burning Man 2018 Continued

I am not quite done with my Burning Man pictures yet.....so here is Burning Man 2018 continued.....ENJOY!
Starting my days off at Center Camp figuring out what I am in the mood for by looking in the What Where When book.

The Temple this year was called Galaxia.
"Galaxia celebrates hope in the unknown, stars, planets, black holes, the movement uniting us in swirling galaxies of dreams. A superior form of Gaia in Isaac Asimov’s Foundation series, Galaxia is the ultimate network, the fabric of the universe connecting living beings into one entity."
From burningman.org
I did not go inside the Temple, way too emotional. But I took some pictures of course.
The Temple was beautiful.

I missed my beautiful Chhaya so very much, she was on my mind. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
I LOVE YOU CHHAYA .

I talked to God as usual.....God was a woman.

I watched this man that looked like a scary movie butcher carve impressive ice sculptures to some really good house music beats illuminated by a large disco ball - only at Burning Man!

One afternoon me and Mckenzie took a bunch of pics together, here are some of them.

Let's never go back!

One evening when I DJ'd I wore a very appropriate shirt with John Bender all over it
(The Breakfast Club).

Happy.

Last night close to 4 AM at Planet Earth. The music had stopped.....no more until next year!

I totally agree with this.....when some random dude (it's always a man) comes up and tells me (or other women) to smile. WTF? Go away please. Do men tell other men they don't know to smile too?

I came across this somewhere way out on the Playa.

DJ At Planet Earth

This year I was a DJ at Planet Earth Burning Man. :-D Planet Earth is one of the few indoor places at Burning Man, they have an indoor area with a DJ booth, a bar and an outdoor space with a DJ booth. It is named Planet Earth after the Duran Duran song.
I DJ'ed two one hour sets, Friday and Saturday both in the main indoor area. The genre I picked was 80's new wave and pop. Initially I applied for three sets, I wanted Friday, Saturday and Sunday and ended up getting Friday and Saturday. How many sets you get depends on the amount of DJ's applying for that particular set and your experience plus affiliation with the Planet Earth camp. In the end I did three one hour sets because Porter, the main organizer of Planet Earth and also one of the DJ's gave me his 1 AM - 2 AM Saturday night set! YEAY! Porter DJ's at the Cat Club in San Francisco and he created Planet Earth Burning Man to resemble that club.
So I decided I wanted to DJ at Planet Earth after getting home from the 2016 Burning Man and this year it became a reality! I have been going to Planet Earth since my first burn in 2013, one of my fave places to be on the playa!
I used a Pioneer DDJ-SB3 controller, downloaded a DJ program called Serato DJ Lite plus all the songs I wanted to play and I brought my laptop. I already had a pair of Pioneer headphones since many years, I finally got to use them in a proper DJ setting. I started my first set with Scotch "Disco Band", in case you know that song.....great tune. If I do this next year - which I hope to I am thinking about getting a different laptop and download the Serato Lite onto it so I don't bring my nice MAC laptop to Burning Man.....to avoid getting it dusty. And it wasn't even that dusty this year.
This DJ experience was AMAZING , SO much fun and I am very HAPPY that I did it.....! Plus I got so much positive feedback, I didn't expect it. Even on Sunday the night I didn't DJ people came up and told me that they really liked my sets. !!! :-)
My equipment.

Me and Porter.

With Jay another Planet Earth DJ.

Jay and Porter were very helpful so a big THANK YOU to both of them.

And there is a video on YouTube with a snippet of me DJ'ing, I am playing "True Faith" by New Order - one of the best songs ever.....I come in right after 3:20 if you watch it.

Art Of Burning Man 2018

So much art and of course I did not see it all. In hindsight I wish I would had made more of an effort to see more of the art. I need to remember that for the future. Here is a fraction of the art of Burning Man 2018.
Bloom. A 40 foot tall jellyfish that first appeared on the playa last year.

I don't know this art's proper name, so I will call him Samurai.

With Open Arms We Welcomed That Which Would Destroy Us.
"With one of her aspects she welcomes and seduces; with the other she voraciously devours. She promises everything you’ve been hoping for. All she needs in return is your humanity."
From burningman.org

McKenzie climbed up....look how happy and cute she looks!

Passage. I really liked this one. A man made of steel walking and touching some wheat.
The wheat represents the food we need to survive. Beautifully made, lots of detail.

Me and the steel man holding hands. I painted my nails blue as in bluenose pitbull. ❤️

A painting inside Center Camp, I think the little sailing robots were so cute....

Come-Million I found not too far from the trash fence (outskirts of the playa).
Shimmering with thousands of lights in the dark, beautifully lighting up the night.

Lodestar.

Great Train Wreck. These two trains faced each other on a track, one evening they collided and wrecked into each other and went up in flames.

I got a ticket at the train station. In the background, Larry Harvey's hat.

Me in front of The Rainbow Bridge.

Night at the Climb In. I heard they had to rope this off after somebody fell down from it.

Rabid Transit. Very impressive mutant vehicle spewing fire and propane.

In Every Lifetime I Will Find You. This one I very much regret not seeing and I searched for it my last night at the playa but I could not find it. I hope it will be back again, if not.... perhaps it will be out there somewhere in the default world. So pretty! Somebody else that saw it sent me this photo. I wish I had a photo of this couple during sunset.

Last but not least....Larry Harvey.

I also wish I would had seen a dog named Dot. This is the story behind it, "This art piece was done in memorial of a Burner who passed away recently. His dream was to build a sculpture of his beloved dog Dot to share with the playa. His campmates lovingly fulfilled his dream this year with this furry, lovable piece. People were invited to leave notes on the art piece and to vocally interact with it."

Last Blockbuster In America

Guess where the last Blockbuster in the whole of America is located? Bend Oregon! It's kind of a big deal, all kinds of memorabilia is being sold and a movie is planned. And people come from all over to take pics in front of the LAST operating Blockbuster. I took a pic of a couple that are on a months long road trip all the way from New York state and they made sure to stop in Bend to get a pic in front of Blockbuster. Of course I have pics in front of it as well.....! ;-)

Doesn't the guy with the sunglasses resemble Corey Feldman back in the day?

Some of my personal faves.....

Perhaps I should be in the movie? OF COURSE I SHOULD! :-)

Some of the last Blockbuster locations to get closed down were located in Anchorage and Kenai, located in Alaska for those who do not know. I rented movies from both locations since I lived in both......

To Las Vegas And Back

Let me tell you about this last week that I spent traveling to Las Vegas and back.....
But first, today is the one year anniversary of the mass shooting that happened in Las Vegas. This is the cover of this week's Las Vegas Weekly. Part of the Strip will be dark for a moment this evening in remembrance of the victims. What can I say about something like this? Nothing. I feel bad of course, it is just so wrong.

On the way to Vegas I stopped in McDermitt located on the Nevada Oregon state line, to fill up the car with gas, while there I visited a very interesting place and talked a bit to a person with many stories to tell, White Buffalo. Make sure to stop there if you go through McDermitt, well worth it.

When in Vegas I noticed these kinds of surveillance cameras in different locations, I have never seen them before.

Spent one fun evening on Fremont Street where people of all kinds of backgrounds get along and have a good time. If you are ever down and out or want an exciting career change you can start busking down on Fremont Street, where even men can get decent tips for showing some skin....perhaps a gig for you?

I am not sure if these guys are for hire for their "services" they are boasting about? I did not inquire. Perhaps inspiration for a t-shirt for you?

I could not believe it when three songs by Linking Park played on the Viva Vision, Chester was singing with his amazing voice above me. WOW! ❤︎

More art from Burning Man has found a home in Las Vegas, this time one of the giant puppets. Pretty!

A mural that I liked.

I found five cents outside a CVS.....great success!

Under the lights of The Plaza.

Took the babies to Red Rock.

Showgirl Video.....

You have to support the working ladies.

Took a tour of the Alien Cathouse located in Amargosa Valley (Nye County), my first ever brothel tour. Got guided around the premises by a nice girl, Allie that told us it was her first time working in a brothel, she was two weeks into a three week stay. What else can I recall....she said it costs $20/day in "rent" for the girls to stay (at this particular location), the first month (or stay) is free and you have your own room and bathroom, with TV and WiFi included of course. The kitchen is shared and the meals are free. The rooms were nice and comfortable and there was a gym area. Allie loved it there and was planning on moving down to Las Vegas from Washington state on her next time off to be closer to her new place of employment. And she was very happy with her choice of work and she said she did plenty of research before making a decision about it. She seemed nice and I wish her the best of luck.
There were a few other ladies present during our visit. The Alien Cathouse used to be under the ownership of Dennis Hof but has a new owner since a few months now.

The car forest in Goldfield.....a small town full of things to see.

Stokes castle in Austin.

And I got back to my destination in Oregon this morning. I am already planning another trip to Nevada to do some more exploring sometime next year.....
