Packed Pound

Welcome to Chaos !!

Packed Pound

This sad picture of this beautiful pitbull puppy is on the cover of the latest issue of the * Redoubt Reporter *. Of course that made me very upset, I wanted to go and get him right away, name him Rascal and just LOVE him. But I am not sure if Chhaya would accept another dog in the household, that is the problem. Otherwise I would love to get another puppy, preferably a rescue pitbull.
I guess the pound is packed here and you know what happens then right? That dog or cat that got abandoned by an irresponsible pet owner gets euthanized, a nicer word for * killed *. When are people going to understand that being a pet owner is a responsibility? Do not get a pet unless you are willing to take care of it the RIGHT way. Getting rid of a family pet because of a move or because you meet a new boyfriend or girlfriend that might not like dogs/cats or you get bored with your pet is NOT ok!. I can understand that sometimes certain circumstances come up and for some reason you have to "get rid of" (awful words) your pet. But don't just ABANDON it or leave it at the pound! HELLO! At least find a good home for your pet!
And don't get me started on spaying and neutering. I have already written several entries about that. People that view their dogs as some kind of supplemental income are HORRIBLE I think. For some reason that seems to apply to the idiots out there breeding their pitbulls like it is the thing to do. And then just sell them off to people that mistreat them or abandon them. I can say with conviction that I HATE certain people. The people that do this.
Chhaya has papers, she comes from a "nice" bloodline I guess. I have been asked many times to breed her, no way! By doing so I would only contribute to a problem that is out of control - unwanted pets. IT IS SO SAD! And do not get a pitbull because you think it is cool or you want to look like a thug or something, parading your dog around with a thick choke chain. BARF!
So of course I had to cut out the article about the pets at the pound here in Kenai and made a little flyer of it and put it up at work. It is the second flyer I made. I also have a little collection going. I must admit that I have not been that good at collecting money, I need to step it up!
A lot of the money in there is my own that I put in after a shift at work. That is where I keep my collection box. I am thinking to give all the proceeds to the * Peninsula Spay and Neuter Fund * here in town or half to the * Angel Fund * at the Twin Cities veterinary clinic. They help sick or injured pets. I have to collect more money first!

You can make a donation to the two funds I mentioned. You can contact Twin Cities Veterinary Clinic at (907) 262-4581 and call or email peninsulaspayandneuterfund@gmail.com for info, (907) 6902723.
