Still Up

Welcome to Chaos !!

Still Up

Three in the morning here......instead of going to bed I stayed up and watched movies.
First something called "White Irish Drinkers". I thought it was a good movie but so depressing throughout. Made me feel bad. It was painful to watch at some points.
Then I watched "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark". I liked it, I thought it was scary. From the very beginning it reminded me of one of my all time favorite movies - "Pan's Labyrinth". I LOVE that movie, it is so beautiful and so sad, I cry A LOT every time I watch it. And there is a monster in it that is so freakishly scary that it has etched a spot for itself in my mind. If you have not seen "Pan's Labyrinth" I think you should......!
So, I looked into who worked on "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" and indeed it is Guillermo Del Toro that did "Pan's Labyrinth", no wonder I thought the movies had the same kind of feeling about them.

Besides I am fascinated by and love faerie lore, there are good and bad faeries. Growing up in Sweden I saw many John Bauer prints and listened to and read many of his stories, all about princes and princesses, faeries and trolls. Beautiful, beautiful stuff. Makes me nostalgic.

So very beautiful!

I Love John Bauer since I was a little girl and saw a pic of little Tuvsarr by the water. It´s so magnificent.

I cry every time too. But she does end up in her father's kingdom. The chalk not only works in the world of fairies and fauns, but also in the world of humans [she escapes her locked room with the chalk to rescue her brother]. If the chalk works in the "real" world, then her "imaginary" world is real.

She does end up in her father's kingdom, yes she does....
You are right about the chalk, didn't make the connection, until now.
